Today, on our 2016 Jeep Patriot, we're gonna be taking a look at, and showing you how to install the PTC custom fit cabin air filter, part number 3513712.A lot of times when you take your vehicle in for regular maintenance, such as an oil change, they'll always ask you, "Do you want your cabin air filter replaced" A lot of people will say yes, without knowing how easy it is to do yourself, which could save you money.Changing your air filter regularly is a great way to make sure that the quality of the air is good inside your cabin. The air filter works as a barrier between the outside world and the air inside your car. Now, it prevents any type of dust, dirt, debris, or other vehicle admissions, or particulate matter like brake dust, from entering inside your vehicle and causing you to breathe it in. It's also gonna improve your air flow, so when you replace your filter with a new one, your heating and a/c is gonna work more efficiently.It only takes about five minutes to replace, which is what we're gonna do now. With most vehicles, the filter's gonna be behind or under your glove box. The certain placement will be different in most vehicles.

For our purposes, I'm gonna go ahead and open up the glove box, and it's gonna be back behind here.To have better access to our filter, we'll need to first get our box out of the way. I'm gonna push in on the the sides of the box, and that's gonna pinch in the little slits, and then we can move it out of the way. Now we have access to the compartment where our cabin air filter is. You'll see that we have the arrows right here. We'll need to make sure that we match the arrows on here up with the arrows on our filter.Let's go ahead and remove it.

Those tabs, we're gonna push in on both sides. Pull it out. Now we can go ahead and pull out the old filter, like so.Before we replace the filter, we're gonna take a look at the old and new, side by side. Now it's no question you can tell which one is new, and which one is old. In the old one, you can see all the dirt and debris.

That's why it's always important to replace it so that you can clean fresh air in your cabin.Now we'll go ahead and replace it with the new one. Now something to keep in mind is that with this certain air filter, the air flow arrows, right here, are on the side. So, make sure you line up the arrows correctly, with the way it's supposed to go. Then you're gonna have to turn it 90 degrees in order to insert it the correct way. Once you do that, we can insert it.

Once you've done that, you can replace the cap. Now we can put our glove box back into place. You just need to pinch in on the sides, and just lift it up, and then you're good to go.As you can see, that was a very simple process.
