Clayton: Hello everyone, Clayton here at etrailer.com. And today we'll be taking a look at and I'll show you how to install the PTC Engine Air Filter on our 2016 Jeep Cherokee. Our Engine Air Filter, filters the air coming through our airbox into our engine. It's good to change this frequently because our engine's going to have to work a lot harder if it's not getting the correct air flow. It can make your car run pretty poorly over time, if you don't change it. Personally, I change mine every other oil change. Our filter is going to be a pleated filter.
It's made out of a white media particulate. What these pleats are going to do is catch any debris coming through our airbox and just helps our engine run a lot cleaner. We have a nice rigid silicone lining here, and then silicone lining around the outside. What this does is keeps that air from flowing around our filter and makes sure it goes through our filter. We have a nice diamond pattern material here to keep our filter nice and rigid.
Now I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed. To start our installation, we're going to want to remove the cover on our airbox. We're going to have to loosen the hose clamp on our airbox using an eight millimeter socket. We are going to have five Phillips head screws located around our airbox. Now, you do want to be careful not to drop these screws down into the engine compartment, so I suggest getting it close and then finishing it off by hand. You'll want to repeat that same process for the rest of the hardware. With our airbox screws out, we can simply lift up on our cover. You're going to have to move that hose around just to get this airbox out.We can now pull out our old filter and see how it looks.
You can go ahead and clean out any dirt or debris that's in our airbox right now. Then we can drop in our new filter. We're now ready to reinstall our hardware in the reverse order. With all of our components re-installed our engine's now getting clean air and we're ready to hit the road. That's going to do it for a look at and installation of the PTC Engine Air Filter on our 2016 Jeep Cherokee.
