Recommended Battery Charger to Maintain Four Batteries Wired in Parallel
Question:
I am going to be maintaining charge on a 2005 Freightliner with a bank of 4 starting batteries 12v wired in parallel. The truck will be parked with batteries fully charged, but will be left for up to a month without running. Temperatures in North Dakota where the truck will be left unattended will range from a low of -45F in winter to 100F in summer. I am interested in a charger that will keep these 4 batteries at full charge during that time, but do not think I need any fast charge capability as would be provided in some high amperage chargers. I have reviewed your CTEK 56674 unit and think it sounds great but may be overkill as I am looking more for battery maintenance than charging. That could certainly be wrong on my part. Anyway, would you please comment on my current explanation of my needs as the review of the CTEK unit was based on my earlier question that really didnt possibly provide all of the facts you need to make a recomendation. Thank You

I spoke with my contact at CTEK and to maintain a full charge in extreme weather he recommended the CTEK MULTI US 25000 High-Capacity 12-Volt Battery Charger, part # CTEK56674, for your Freightliner truck with a bank of 4 starting batteries 12v wired in parallel. He strongly advised against going with anything less than the 25000. After the batteries reach full-charge, this charger switches automatically to pulse-maintenance to maintain the charge.
I have included the installation instructions for this part as well as a drawing that shows how parallel batteries are attached to one another.

What battery maintainer should we be using to maintain the battery in a Kenworth 370 for the summer months? Two batteries in parallel.
