Tips For Removing Broken Bolt From Brake Caliper

Question:

I requested info regarding torque for my UFP DB -42 brake caliper. Was told 50fpd was the correct setteing . I disagree, it was too much ,the bolt snapped . My question is , how do I remove the caliper woth the broken threaded piece is stuck in caliper ?

Hello Mark, sorry to hear that happened. Your best bet to remove the broken bolt will be to use a left-handed drill bit to create a hole. Then to use an extraction bit to remove the rest of the broken bolt.

Might be too tight , even with thread lock .

@Mark Its possible but that would be the only safe way of removing the bolt without damaging the caliper. You could maybe try to drill it out and use a thread tap. It might mean a new caliper though.
