Green Loctite Recommendation for Squeaky Bottom Bracket Bearings
Published 05/28/2014 >
Question:
I have a carbon frame bike and the bottom bracket bearings press into the frame where the crank is. The bearing shells make a creaking noise against the frame when there is a lot of torque being applied to the crank and someone told me to use green loctite on the bearings and press them back in. Is this a good idea? Will it be hard to remove the bearings if I need to?

Green Loctite like part # LT37424 should work very well for you, and in the event you need to remove the bearings the trick to releasing green Loctite is heat. Some use a soldering iron to heat the area enough so that it releases.
You will use this to secure the bearing cup to the bottom bracket just to be clear.
