Do The Support Bows Of The Access Vanish Soft, Roll-Up Tonneau Covers Still Pop Out Of Place
Updated 10/03/2024 | Published 10/02/2024 >
Question:
Bought one of these Vanish covers for my Wifes 2011 Dodge Dakota a little over a year ago. Love it but have found one problem. When a lot of water collects on top of it the velcro that holds the cross wise support rods to the vinyl it lets the rod come loose when you roll it up. Looks like the velcro doesnt wrap completely around the the rod. The Truxcedo cover I have on my F150 has longer velcro that wraps completely around and doesnt have this problem.. Has the Vanish improved in this regard in the last year or so? If they have Im gonna order one for my F150. Thanks!

Hey Henry,
The design of the bow supports hasn't changed on the Access Vanish Soft, Roll-Up Tonneau Cover # A91359 so you would likely still have issues with them popping out of the holders if there isn't the right amount of tension while rolling the cover. I've had a few different brands of soft roll-up tonneau covers over the years and I find that if you aren't keeping it tight and straight while rolling it up or down the supports will pop right out or fall down and get wedged in the bed.
I currently have one of our etrailer soft roll up covers on my truck and they pop out every now and then and I keep telling myself to shoot a rivet through the support bows and brackets that holds them to stop this from happening. Each soft roll-up cover has this same design so you can't really get away from this issue unless you find a way to permanently attach the supports to the Velcro so that they can't pop out or go with a hard-folding style tonneau cover.

It's not so much that it pops out when you roll it up, it's that when there's a water load on the cover the velcro on the bed sides that hold the cover on lets go BETWEEN the transverse supports, causing the velcro tabs that hold the supports in place don't hold. These velcro strips are narrower than the ones on the bed side, which is fine, but doesn't go completely around the circumference of the cross support. I'll probably go ahead and buy one anyway. Thanks for the prompt response!
