What Causes Lippert Solera Awning Arm to Become Bent

Updated 08/20/2024 | Published 08/01/2022

Question:

What would cause my inner arm on a Lippert Solera power awning to get bent? Bad shock maybe? I have a 2018 Prowler Lynx 22LR.

There are a handful of reasons why the arm on your Lippert Solera awning might be bent; it could be a part (like the shock), sudden gusts of wind, too much weight from rain, or even something getting stuck in the track while you're retracting it. The last problem seemed to be the most common when I was looking at forums online.

Lippert has complete replacement awning support arms like the Solera 66-1/8" Pitched Awning Support Arm, Black # LC266169 that will remedy the problem if you get the correct length but some people said they were able to bend it back into place and it seemed okay as long as there wasn't a crease in the metal. You might try bending it back first and if that doesn't fix it then look for replacement parts.

I just had my awning replaced by dealer and when I picked it up the lower end of awning would not retract fully in the track it is brand new arms what would cause this. When I spoke to service technician said nothing he could do about it that the motor causes that to happen any suggestions

@Lawrence It sounds like something just isn't lined up correctly. If everything was lined up when you dropped your RV off I would have the dealer fix what they did. They should be able to readjust everything so everything is lined up like it should be.
