Does this fit up inside the pin box on Youngs Welding pin box or on the outside and if so what is the measurement across the opening of the where it bolts onto the pin box. The width on my pin box is 9inch across.

The 5th Airborne Sidewinder Pin Box, part # ST500-SW16K, is not used along with a Youngs Welding Long pin box but rather is a replacement for it. Sidewinder replacement pin boxes can be seen on the link provided. Both provide short bed trucks with an additional 22-inches of king pin clearance that avoids the need for a slider hitch for making tight turns.
Please refer to the linked article entitled Measuring to Determine the Correct Replacement Pin Box. If you scroll down to the table you will see that the pin box width dimension shown for your Youngs Welding pin box (in the far right column labeled 3c) is 12 inches. Please also refer to the photo illustration. Both the medium and long pin boxes from Youngs Welding share the same 12-inch width according to our data. They do make a telescoping tube type box also, but its width is 8 inches not 9, and there is no Sidewinder replacement for it.
Replacement pin boxes are generally identified based on the original part number as noted in the first column in the table. The pin box number will typically be located on a sticker or stamping on the OEM pinbox. In the case of Youngs Welding they simply use Long, Medium and Telescoping 45-degree types as noted in the article.
