Wiring the 12V RV Ceiling Fan with Wall Switch

Question:

I have an existing ceiling fan in motorhome. motor is bad, so i ordered a new kit...324-00053. The new switch has an extra black wire at the top by the blue and white wires. Old switch does not have this. I am wondering if that is just another ground wire that would combine with the black wire on the bottom of the switch. When I intalled the new motor there were extra wires that I did not have anything to connect to..just used the blue and white to my previous wires.

On the 12V RV Ceiling Fan with Wall Switch, # 324-000053, there is a blue wire on the switch that connects to a blue wire on the motor of the fan. There is also a white wire on the switch that connects to a white wire on the motor of the fan. So there are only these two wires that connect between the motor and the switch.

However, there are also two other wires on the switch (black and red) that connect to power and ground as well. And, one other wire on the motor of the fan, yellow, that is wired to ground. The exact install details should be included with the fan.

Michael. I don’t think you answered Ron W question. I have the same issue. My old switch only has 4 wires. Red, Black, blue and white. The new fan switch has 5 wires. On bottom of switch is a red and black 12 volts in and on the top there is a blue, black and white. From switch location to fan there is only 2 wires a blue and white. What do you do with the black that is on the top of switch on the side with the blue and white. One extra wire from original switch. The fan I have is a RecPro. Thank you

@TimA You'll want to reach out to RecPro about a wiring diagram and then connect the wiring per function. I'm not sure what the 5th wire would be for unless your new fan has an additional function for it.
