Installing Rampage Soft Top On To Windshield Channel On 2005 Wrangler
Updated 10/08/2020 | Published 10/06/2020 >
Question:
I have the above soft top on my jeep. When it was installed, bolts were put through the brackets into the windshield channel and I can’t take the top down without taking the bolts out. Is this right? I thought I would be able to take it down more easily than that. Any help and guidance would be much appreciated.

There are no bolts to remove in order to pull the cover out of the windshield channel. The only way for the front of the cover to come out or loose is to pull the front leading edge forward out of the windshield channel, except it can't pull forward as the cover is secured tightly at the rear of the vehicle.
When installing the Rampage # RA68735 Complete Soft Top Kit you will first remove the bolts holding the factory windshield channel. Set the factory channel aside as it will not be reused. Place the Rampage windshield channel in place and attach it using the bolts that was holding the factory channel.
To install the cover, drape it over the Rampage frame loosely in place. The leading edge that attaches at the windshield has a flat rigid edge. With that forward edge pointing at the front of the Jeep, pull it forward and past the top edge of the windshield, then fold the leading edge under so the leading edge is pointing towards the rear of the Jeep. Now push that leading edge backwards and into the channel. The flat rigid edge will simply insert into the channel like you would insert a folded piece of paper into an envelope.
