Atwood Water Heater Clicks But Wont Ignite
Question:
I have an Atwood/Dometic gas water heater Model G6A-8E that won’t ignite. When I turn on the remote switch, after a few seconds I can hear it click. Then following a couple more seconds the Fault light comes on. I’ve checked all breakers, tried it with the inline fuse remove and the 2 amp fuse on the circuit board appears ok. What additional trouble shooting should I do?

The issue you are having with the Atwood RV Water Heater part # AT96121 (G6A-8E) sounds like a faulty control board, the Replacement Control Panel for Atwood Water Heaters part # AT91367. In order to confirm this you will need to check for power on the wire that goes from the board to the ECO or ECO to gas solenoid while the igniter is clicking. If you don't get 12 volts here then you know the control board is bad.
If you do get power on the wire that goes from the board to the ECO or ECO to gas solenoid then your best option would be to have a qualified technician look over the water heater for you as the troubleshooting steps will become more in-depth.
