The Draw Tite hitch part # 75751 has a towing capacity of 4,500 lbs so as long as your 2012 Ford Escape has at least the same capacity as this you'd be able to tow up to 4,500 lbs. My research on your vehicle states it would only have a capacity of 1,500 lbs so even with this hitch installed you'd be limited to that as it's the weakest component.
