Compatibility of etrailer Inverter Generators for Amateur Radio Equipment

Updated 06/12/2019 | Published 06/11/2019

Question:

Hi I find the price point of your generators quite appealing but one of the primary uses I have in mind is to power some amateur radio equipment. Many of the less expensive generators make a lot of radio frequency interference RFI and I was wondering what the experience was with your line of generators. They seem to be relatively new so I have not been able to find out much about them. Thanks

The etrailer 3,200-Watt Portable Inverter Generator - 2,900 Running Watts - Gas - Manual Start # 333-0002 is a great option for remote or backup power. Our generators and inverters are made by Firman and are safe for electronic devices like your radio equipment that requires steady, controlled electrical current.

As you stated many of the less expensive generators are not made for the steady current of electronics causing issues like you stated. That won't be the case for our Inverter Generators. You will want to remember that the power draw for your equipment will be greater at start up to power amps, etc, so you want to make sure you get the correct size for your needs and power your system on in an order that works for the starting watts needed versus the running watts needed. I've linked the page to your options to assist.
