Sometimes a vehicle will have a higher towing capacity if a weight distribution system is used but this is not always the case. For example, the Curt hitch part # 13591 that fits your Terrain has a towing capacity of 3,500 lbs w/o a WD system and a 4,000 lb capacity if a WD system is used.
