Question:
I have a 2016 GMC Terrain SLT V6 front wheel drive SUV. My manual says that my max tow weight is 3500 lbs. By what can I go over the tow weight limit for this vehicle? I have a weight distribution system already. The information you will give me, will determine the size of the RV I will buy. Thanks

The owners manual for your 2016 GMC Terrain will be the final authority on the towing capacity. Sometimes a vehicle will have a higher towing capacity if a weight distribution system is used but this is not always the case. For example, the Curt hitch part # 13591 that fits your Terrain has a towing capacity of 3,500 lbs w/o a WD system and a 4,000 lb capacity if a WD system is used. That said, you are limited by the lowest rated component in your towing setup so if your vehicle is 3,500 lb max regardless of if a WD system is used you have to use that as the overall capacity.
The Strait-Line WD system part # RP66082 that you referenced is an excellent system for your weight capacity as it has a tongue weight range of 200-600 lb and features only and best sway control that works to fight sway before it starts.
If you needed trailer wiring the kit you'd want is the part # 56094 which installs without splicing.
