Question:

I purchased this to replace a 94024xt model. It works but water gets cool fast. The old one had a mixing valve and Im told thats probably the issue. Does the new 94022 need that valve?

Since the Dometic Atwood Gas/120V RV Water Heaters like # AT94022 require professional installation I recommend checking with the shop that installed it. When you say the water gets cool fast do you mean stored hot water does not stay hot or do you mean that you run out of hot water quickly?

This unit is rated to provide 20-gallons of hot water per hour. It also has a high-temperature limit switch that automatically shuts the unit off to prevent overheating. This feature may be malfunctioning or set too low. Either way for your safety I recommend you refer this issue to a qualified service technician.

It could be something as simple as a winterization valve being in a partially closed position. I recommend checking your T fitting like the Camco Replacement 3-Way Valve for Winterization Bypass Kits # CAM37463 to ensure you are getting hot water into your lines. It sounds like you may simply be heating the same water in your tank that is not able to escape to your faucets.
