Recommended AC Unit for 2005 Breckenridge Trailer
Question:
We recently purchased our seasonal trailer and it needs an AC unit. It’s a 40x8’ trailer with no sunroom. It has existing heat ducts/therm from an unused heater. 3 quotes later I’m at a $5500 job cost average. These hvac guys seem to want me to purchase a 2 ton unit, what looks like to me, similar to what a single family home would have. Is this really what I need? Or am I being taken advantage of? I’m really struggling with a $14k trailer needing a $6k unit. Friends on mine have trailers with the rooftop units which are undoubtedly much cheaper and work fine or 3-4 days a week for half of the year. PLEASE HELP!

For your 2005 Breckenridge trailer, the RV style AC unit should work well for your application. I recommend two of the Atwood Air Command Rooftop RV Air Conditioner w/ Heat Pump - 15,000 Btu - Ducted - White # AT15028-22 which will help cool your unit. For a 40 foot trailer, usually 2 of these rooftop units are required. They are designed for ducted trailers so you can utilize what you already have.
This AC unit also includes a heat pump which won't heat your trailer as much as simply taking a little bit of the chill out of the air.
