Can a 2002 Toyota Tundra Tow a 26 Foot Fifth Wheel
Question:
I want to use my Tundra to tow a 26 5th wheel, is that ok? Ive heard its too much # for the axle. If its ok, I would like to use one of your install kits on another brand of hitch. Are the rails universal? Thanks.

You will first need to determine the loaded weight of your 26 foot fifth wheel. Then, you will need to find out the towing capacity on your 2002 Toyota Tundra to make sure the loaded weight of the fifth wheel does not exceed the towing capacity of your vehicle. If it is close to or over the towing capacity I would recommend not to tow that fifth wheel with your Tundra.
If you are able to tow the fifth wheel with your Tundra you will need to use a slider hitch if you have the 6-1/2 foot bed and a fixed hitch if you have the 8 foot bed. The bed rails will work with either a slider hitch or a fixed hitch.
The Reese Semi-Custom Installation Kit, part # RP30035-197, will include base rails, universal brackets, and mounting hardware to attach the rails to your truck bed.
The Curt Custom Installation Kit, part # C16465-204, will also include everything you need, but being a custom fit kit it will install quicker than the semi-custom and uses vehicle specific brackets that mount to existing holes in your vehicles frame. That helps minimize measuring and drilling.
The installation kits will accept Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley and Husky fifth wheel hitches.
