From my research the FWD model of the 2018 Jeep Compass is not rated to tow a trailer. The 4WD model is only if it has the 9-speed automatic transmission and even then is only rated up to 2,000 pounds. I would verify these numbers either with your owner's manual or with Jeep.
With that being said there are trailer hitches available that fit. The Draw-Tite Class III, part # 76144, is my recommendation for a hitch. If you determine you can tow a trailer with your Compass you still need to adhere to the vehicle's weight limits since the hitch is well overrated for it. You're always limited by your lowest rated component which is often the vehicle itself.
You also need trailer wiring like # C56369. As well as a ball mount and hitch ball. Look at our ball mount kit # 989900. It includes everything else you need as long as the rise and drop work with your trailer. I've linked an article that can help you determine if it will. I've also linked some other general articles on towing for you.
