Recommended Performance Upgrades for a 2011 Ford F-250 with 6.2L V8 Engine
Question:
Hello. I would like to get a little more torque and horse power out of my truck, specifically when towing my living quarter horse trailer. It is 30foot long and weighs about 13,500 lbs loaded. What would you recommend. My truck is a 2011 F250, extended cab, 4x4, short box with the 6.2 L gas engine. Obviously, I do not have the truck for fuel economy, but use it mostly for pulling my horse trailers. I also have a 2 horse slant bumper pull trailer that loaded with 2 weighs about 5500 lbs. Thank you and have a great day!

For the average consumer looking to add both horsepower and torque to their vehicle, I recommend starting out with a cold air intake system. A cold air intake system will increase power, improve gas mileage, and promote engine longevity. It is one of the easiest modifications to make to your vehicle and is also one of the least expensive. For this I recommend using the Airaid CAD Cold Air Intake System part # AR400-273.
The next system I recommend upgrading is the ECU. This can be done through the use of an aftermarket tuner like the Superchips Flashpaq F5 Performance Tuner part # SU1845. The tuner will complement the intake system nicely providing you with an additional 20HP/25TQ. It comes with 4 pre-loaded tunes which are for towing, performance, daily driving, and economy.
