Differences Between the Swagman G10 and Swagman Chinook 2 Bike Racks

Question:

I have a 2014 Acura MDX and am interested in the Swagman G10 or the Swagman Chinook, both for 2 bikes. The hitch pin hole on my 2inch receiver is 4inch in from the outside point of the rear bumper. I want a rack that when folded up takes the least amount of space due to constraints in my garage, but in reviewing the videos Im concerned that the Chinook may be too close to my bumper when folded up. Also, what are the main differences between the 2 racks? I have only one bikea hybrid with 700 x 32 tires and a slanted top tube.

The primary differences between the Swagman G10, part # S64682 and the Chinook, part # S64683 is the overall size and shape of the rack, as well as the bike dimensions that they hold.

The Chinook is an overall smaller rack, and at 25 inches, is a little more manageable for garages and other tight situations, and at 6 inches may risk contact of the wheel trays with your vehicle's rear bumper when folded up.

The G10 on the other hand sits 13 inches away from the hitch pin when folded up, making it altogether a bigger rack. For being bigger, you pick up the ability to adjust the wheel cradles to your bike's specific wheel base, and are able to handle wider bike tires on the rack. This has the benefit of letting you move where the frame clamp ends up to better suit your bike. It also includes a cable lock in addition to its locking ratchet hooks for added security.

Between the two, I think that if you're OK with how close the Chinook ends up to the vehicle, you'll be happier with it. If you switch what bikes you're carrying often, or you have a particularly low framed bike, you'll be happier with the G10.
