Trailer Wiring Circuit To Use to Power Inverter for Christmas Lights on Utility Trailer

Question:
I would like to power an inverter from a convenient power source on a pickup truck so that I can use LED Christmas lights to decorate a small 6 x 10 utility trailer that my kids will ride on a SLOW speeds around the neighborhood for Halloween. If possible, Id like to tap into the 12v power source at the trailer wiring connector, but Im willing to install a fused 12v line from the battery. If I go direct from the battery, is there a way to control power so that the inverter only draws current when the ignition switch is on instead of constant power?

The wire that feeds the 12 volt power circuit of your 7-way the 1:00 pin should only come on with the key on. But the other option you have is to use the running light circuit wire which is the 11:00. This will allow you to control when the lights are active. If you turn the head or running lights of the truck on this circuit will come on to power the Christmas lights.
