The Master Lock Electric Trailer Winch, # 2953AT, has a clutch knob on the side of the winch. You will need to loosen the knob in order to allow the winch to free spool. You can then pull out the cable. The knob will have to be tightened again in order to re-engage the drum with the motor so the winch can pull the cable back in using the motor.
