How to Instal the Derale In-Line Fan Control Thermostat Part # D13021
Question:
I installed a transmission cooler D12743 with a fan and want to install this part D13021 inline . But I am not really clear on the wiring .. do I connect the wiring from the fan to the terminal post on this ?install a fuse? where to I connect for the power? battery? Is there a e-trailer video on how to install this part but more importantly wire this component up? Its on a 2007 Nissian Xterra.

I can walk you through the installation process of the Derale In-Line Fan Control Thermostat with -6 AN Fittings part # D13021 but my instructions will be universal and not geared toward your 2007 Nissan Xterra, however, should be easy enough to adapt to your specification.
The fan control thermostat has an -6 AN fitting and the Derale Dyno-Cool Remote Cooler with Fan and Hose Barb Inlets part # D12743 has a barb fitting. Therefore, the thermostat will need to be installed in-line opposed to directly onto the transmission cooler.
1. Install hose barb adapters onto in-line adapter. No thread sealant is required on AN fittings.
2. Install temperature sensor onto in-line adapter. Use a dab of silicone sealer on threads. The sensor is brass and will break if over-tightened. Always use two wrenches, one to tighten the adapter and one to hold on the cooler inlet
3. Install rubber hoses onto hose barb adapters and use good quality clamps to hold hose.
Once the thermostat is plumbed correctly, you can then begin the wiring installation.
1. The temperature switch has two male terminals, attach one (it doesn't matter which) to a switched ignition 12-volt source on your 2007 Nissan Xterra. You can use any 12-volt power source as long as the circuit only receives power while the vehicle is running and can handle the 15-amp draw required for the thermostat. For example, the vehicle's ignition switch circuit only receives power while the vehicle is on and as long as it is rated for the proper amperage will work for you. You can also run the 12-volt power wire from the thermostat directly to the battery using the 40 Amp In-Line Circuit Breaker part # 9510. If attached to a circuit tied into the fuse box an additional in-line fuse will not be needed. The other wire attaches to the positive lead on fan motor. You will want to use a circuit test like part # PTW2993 to ensure you are splicing into the correct wire.
2. Connect the other fan motor lead to a good chassis ground.
