Recommended Mounting Location of Thule Cargo Box on 2012 Subaru Outback Wagon
Published 08/26/2016 >
Question:
I watch the video on the 2013 Subaru Outback and the Thule Force M 624. I put it on my 2012 Subaru Outback and have it positioned all the way back. When its unloaded I noticed in a head wind it tried to lift up the whole box. Im planning a long road trip in September and I dont want it flying off the back of my car. I need to know where is the best position it should be? Should I use a tie down strap to be safe?

Thule recommends that all of their boxes be placed as far back as possible, with the crossbars as far apart as the box will allow. They also do not recommend using the box when it is empty.
The box is not made to be used with a tie-down and it isn't really necessary. It's made to stay secured without the use of any straps.
