Question:
I have a 2008 chevy silverado 1500 6.0L max and Im trying to decide if I should go with the cold air intake or programing chip. What would you recommend. I dont need that power everyday just when I pull my 28ft camping trailer a several times a year. Just looking for that extra boost and confidence. My camping trailer weighs 6,200 dry and I usually add 1,000 plus more pounds extra. Am I better off going with a cold air intake or programming chip. Which one would give me what I am looking for.

If you choose to use a cold air intake like part # AR200-996 on your Silverado, you could expect to see a 10 to 20 horsepower increase. This may be all you need for that extra boost.
For tuning flexability I recommend the Superchips Flashpaq F5 Performance Tuner, part # SU4845. This tuner allows you to be able to change the tuning of the engine based on your needs, and per the loads you are carrying. I called my contact at Superchips and asked about the performance when using the tuner. There are 5 settings you can choose from and they are set for the octane level of the fuel you are using. They said for the lowest level of increase using the 87 octane fuel you could expect and increase of about 25 horsepower and 28 lb-ft torque increase. They said that is dependent on the engine you have in your truck. You can check the VIN and if the letter in the 8th position has a U those are the levels you would expect.
