Can a 2014 Gas Engine Ram 2500 Tow a 14K Fifth Wheel Trailer
Question:
Hi!!! We have a 5th wheel camper that weighs around 14,000 lbs. we are looking at a 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 with a 5.7 liter hemi gas engine. We currently use our 2000 Dodge 2500 diesel. Will the gas engine pull it? Thank you!!!

There's a very easy way to determine that. On the driver's side front door jamb, you'll find a sticker that lists the capacities of the truck. You're looking for the GCWR or gross combined weight rating. This rating is the maximum that the trailer and the truck can weigh. If you subtract the GVW (gross vehicle weight-curb weight plus the weight of cargo and passengers in the truck) from the GCWR, the remainder will represent the maximum weight of the trailer you can pull.
If you can swing it, I'd recommend going with the Cummins Diesel engine. More torque, longer engine life.
