How Are the Superwinch Winch Circuit Breakers Rated, Do they Shut Off at a Certain Amperage
Question:
Hello.... Question...I am a bit confused...if one has 3 50 amp circuit breakers in parallel, that adds up to a 150 amp breaker...correct? If the winch draws 300 amps to pull at full capacity and 180 amps at half capacity and the breaker is rated at a total of 150 amps...how does one get the winch at full cap? If the 150 amp setup works correctly, it will break the circuit at or near 150 amps, thus not letting one get full power from the winch....If ones winch draws 300 amps to pull at full cap and one is using a battery with 800+ CCA...shouldnt the circuit breaker assembly be 3 150 amp breakers in parallel for 450 amp breaker? Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

I spoke to my contact at Superwinch and he informed me that the "circuit breakers," like the part # 90-22860 are actually thermal overloads that don't shut off at a certain amperage. They actually shut off at a certain temperature. Realistically the # 90-22860 would be good for around 450 amps.
