Best Whispbar Roof Rack Recommendation for a 2013 Mercedes M-Class

Question:

Hello, I have a 2013 Mercedes M-class and I am interested in the Yakima Whispbar. I am trying to decide between the Rail bar and the Flush bar. Im not sure if the rail bar will work with by sunroof or my antenna, if I put my Thule 611 boxter on it. It seems pretty low. On the Flush bar I am concerned that it may be too high off the roof creating more wind noise. Can you recommend which you would get and why? Do you happen to know how high to top of the Flush bar is from the top of the side rails? Will the Rail bar be too low for that car? Thank you for your help

There is a fit note for the Whispbar Rail Bar Roof Rack # WB-S56 that says it will not allow you to open the roof rack of your 2013 Mercedes M-Class.

The Whispbar rack that consists of # WB-S17 and # WB-K328 would be a better option since it will allow you to open your sunroof.

To determine if your box will clear you will want to measure from the center of the front mounting bracket on the box with is slid back as far as possible to the back of the box. That is the front clearance dimension you need. Now you will want to measure from the very front of your side rails where a rack could attach at the height of the top of the side rail back to the antenna. If this distance is greater than the front clearance measurement you took the box would clear. If not, then I would recommend the other roof rack.
