Troubleshooting Weight Distribution Spring Bars that are Too Tight

Hi, i have a 19 foot trailer 2000 pounds, just came back from a trip and i notice at every stop the lift unit assembly on the trailer would move forward half an inch and the square head screw is bend...i had 3 links of chains from thr lift unit down is thst the cause. thank you for an answere

Based on what you have described, it sounds like the chains on your weight distribution system are too tight. The ball height and tilt of the head unit should be set so that you are using no less than 5 chain links.

The spring bars should be either parallel to the trailer frame or tilt down at a slight angle toward the rear of the trailer. I recommend raising the the height of the hitch ball and adjusting the angle of the weight distribution head so that it is tilting towards the trailer.
