Volkswagen Golf Questions

  • If I had to choose between the two, I would choose the XTC-2, part # S64670. Not only do the rubber straps you refer to further secure the bikes to the rack, but the wheel hoops themselves are much stronger. The rack includes a threaded hitch pin, but I would recommend the optional locking hitch pin/cable lock combo part # S64031.

  • Hidden Hitch trailer hitch # 60212 will fit a 2012 Volkswagen Golf TDI. This hitch is designed so that the receiver is below the crosstube as you can see in the pictures. This makes most of the hitch hidden underneath the vehicle. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. This hitch comes with the correct ball mount, hitch pin, and clip. For a ball you can use # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch diameter or # 19258 for a 2 inch diameter. For trailer wiring, use...

  • For your 2016 Volkswagen Golf GTI the Curt hitch part # C11412 that you referenced has been confirmed as a fit and would work well for carrying a bike rack. Curt requires the use of their stabilizer strap part # 18050 when using their hitch to carry a non-supported load like a bike rack. I attached a review video for you to check for the strap as well. The most popular bike rack we carry that has been confirmed to fit this vehicle is the Swagman XTC2 Bike Rack part # S64670....

  • We have everything that you will need to tow your jetski with your 2015 Volkswagen Golf TDI. For a trailer hitch, I recommend the Hidden Hitch Class I Trailer Hitch, # 60362. This hitch has a towing capacity of 2,000lbs and a tongue weight capacity of 200lbs. It also comes with the recommended ball mount, so you will only need a wiring harness and a hitch ball. For a hitch ball, you can use part # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch ball or # 19258 for a 2 inch ball. You will want to check...

You cannot purchase either of these hitches with...

  • I spoke with my contact at Tow Ready and verified that the Tow Ready Modulite Wiring Harness, # 119190KIT, is the correct wiring harness for your 2012 Volkswagen Golf TDI. Your vehicle uses a 3-wire multiplex wiring system, meaning it sends multiple signals along the same wire. To install this wiring harness in your vehicle, you will use the included circuit tester to test the wires at the back of the tail light assembly. Using the circuit tester, test for the wire that carries...

  • On your 2016 Volkswagen Golf Curt trailer hitch # C11412 will have the receiver slightly below the rear fascia. If you measured up from the ground to the bottom of the rear fascia and then subtracted 1-3/4 inches that would be approximately where the bottom of the hitch would be. Draw-Tite hitch # 24925 would be the better option. It is tucked up a little higher compared to the Curt hitch so I recommend going with it. For a bike rack you will need one that is compatible...

  • For your 2016 Volkswagen Golf GTI I recommend Curt trailer hitch # C11412. This is a Class I trailer hitch rated for 200 pounds tongue weight and 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight. If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier then you have to make sure the accessory is rated for use with a Class I trailer hitch. Also, with a bike rack, you are limited to 2 bikes maximum on a Class I hitch. Curt also says you have to use stabilization...

Mounting hardware is included with this brake controller. There are a couple of other things needed to complete the brake controller installation. You will...

  • Actually the Draw Tite and Hidden Hitch brands are made by the same parent company so the two hitches you referended, part # 24925 and # 60362 are identical products. Only real difference between the two is that the Hidden Hitch comes with a ball mount and a pin and clip. That is why it costs a little more. If you plan is to do some light towing the Hidden Hitch would be your best option. To complete your towing setup you would also need the wiring kit part # 119190KIT,...

  • To equip your Golf for towing, I would recommend the Draw-Tite Class I receiver, part number 24825. The Tow Ready # 119190KIT is the recommended trailer wiring harness for the 2011 Golf. You would also need the appropriately sized trailer ball, part # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch ball or # 19258 for a 2 inch ball. Basically you will be able to reuse one of the crossbars as the front for the new Golf.
