Video Transcript for Review of Custer Tow Bar Wiring - TLP01

Today, we're going to take a look at the pair of Custer magnetic tow light partners. Now these magnetic tow light partners will work great with the magnetic towing lights. They'll work with part number C-ATL20A, part number ATL-LED, and part number SPL30B-6. All three of those parts are magnetic towing lights that attach to your towed vehicle. These parts here are designed to install on your driver's side and passenger side windows and allows you to attach your magnetic towing lights to your tow vehicle. Has a metal plate here that the lights will attach to and at the very top has this round tube that'll go on the inside of your vehicle.

Basically when you install these, they will overlap on the top of your window. So if this is your side window, you just put this on the outside, overlap it to the inside, and then when you close your window, it'll be held in place by this round tube on the inside here, and the metal plate will be on the outside. These parts then will allow you to attach those magnetic lights to your vehicle that might not normally have a place to install your magnetic lights, or if you don't want to attach the lights to the paint on your vehicle. A metal plate right here will allow the magnet to attach to each side of the vehicle. Just to show you here's a magnet here and you can see how to attach to it. So your towing lights that'll have the magnetic base will stick on one side, and then you put this on the other side so you have the towing lights one on each side.

But that should do it for the review on the pair of Custer magnetic tow light partners.

  • Will Magnetic Tow Lights Work through a Plastic Cover on a Steel Jeep Bumper
The magnets on the tow lights like # C6304 are strong but I am not sure if they will work well enough with a plastic cover over the metal bumper of your Jeep. What I recommend is to go wit ha different type of kit, like # EZT20B that you could hook to the Jeep somewhere and not worry about magnets. Of you could secure some tow light partners, # TLP01, to provide a metal surface for the magnetic lights.

  • Lighting Options for 2016 Lincoln MKX that Is Flat-Towed Behind Motorhome
It sounds like you need a flat-towing wiring harness to allow your motorhome to control the lights on the towed MKX. There are several options for flat-towing lighting and these vary in cost, complexity of installation and in how permanent that installation is. With a brand new vehicle like your MKX you can consider a set of magnetic lights like # TLL21RK, which uses a 4-pole flat type connector. This kind of lighting kit means you do not have to cut into the brand new car's wiring or...

  • How to Mount Magnetic Tow Lamps on Fiberglass Hardtop Roof of 2007 Jeep Wrangler
An option would be Magnetic Light Mounts like part # TLP01. You'd shut the mounts in the windows of the driver and passenger side and then the magnetic lamps like part # RM-2120 would stick to the mounts. Although the lamps would be on the side of the vehicle and not on the rear, they'd still be highly visible.

  • Tow Lights that Wont Damage Paint on a 2012 Toyota Prius Towed on a Car Dolly
I actually have an easier solution that does not require additional wiring and is very inexpensive. Since the magnetic lights are harming the paint finish on your 2012 Toyota Prius I recommend using Tow Partners # TLP01. Close these guys in the window of the Prius and the lights will stick to them instead of to the car! Since there are no flat towing parts for the Prius none of the other wiring kits are tested or confirmed to fit on it.

  • Tow Bar Wiring that Bypasses Tail Light Wiring on a 2016 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk
I checked with Roadmaster and the bulb and socket kit, # RM-155, is not recommended for your 2016 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk due to limited available space in the tail light housing for the bulbs. Another option that bypasses the vehicle wiring is to use a kit such as # RM-2120 if you have a horizontal surface to attach them. This kit has a part of the bracket that you would close into the rear hatch which holds the lights in place. Or, to keep the lights off of the vehicle, you could use...

  • Light Kit to Flat Tow a 2015 Ford F-150 Behind a Motor Home
For your 2015 Ford F-150 you can use 4-diode kit # RM-154. This is a more permanent installation that does require tapping into the vehicle wiring. For a more temporary solution you could use a magnetic kit such as # RM-2120 but you would need to also use tow light partners # TLP01 because of the aluminum used in the 2015 Ford F-150s.

  • Tow Bar Light that Can Fit Mini Cooper 2012 Convertible S that Bypasses Vehicle Wiring
It doesn't look like there is a flat metal surface that the # LIW-LDTL-7B could attach to at the rear of your 2012 Mini Cooper convertible so a different light kit like the # RM-2120 would be a much better option with the TLP01 helpers would probably work for you..

  • Wiring Options for Flat Towing a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Behind a 1986 Gruman/Olsen Delivery Van
The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 118381, that you have referenced cannot be used in a reverse type of application like you are describing. But there are numerous lighting options for flat towing a vehicle that will work for you. The right wiring application for you will depend on several factors. There are basically two types of wiring solutions for flat towing. Permanent solutions and temporary solutions. If you plan on towing the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee often, you would benefit from...

  • Magnetic Versus Wired Magnetic Towing Lights For Long Road Trips
If you were to go with the either the Custer Wireless LED Tow Bar Light 4-Way # LIW-LDTL or 7-Way # LIW-LDTL-7B I recommend getting 2 of these. That will allow you to have one in the cab charging while using the other one. As they have an expected battery life of 6-8hours per charge this will allow you to switch them out as you stop for gas or food. Otherwise the Magnetic LED Tow Light Kit # TLL21RK will provide you with 20' of wiring to use hard wired lights. These lights uses LED's...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2016 Ford F-150 King Ranch with LED Tail Lights Behind an RV
For tow bar wiring for your 2016 Ford F-150 I recommend going with a magnetic kit # RM-2120. The issue is that the diode kits and converters that go with them are not rated for use with LED tail lights. The best option then is going to be a magnetic kit. And having a wireless system means you won't have to run any wires or worry about complicated installations on the truck. Since the lights are magnetic you may need to use tow light partners # TLP01 in the windows of the truck if the lights...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 1994 Suzuki Sidekick Behind a Motor Home
Yes, Roadmaster base plates # 118-1 will fit your 1994 Suzuki Sidekick 2-door. All of the Roadmaster tow bars are compatible with these base plates. For an economical tow bar I recommend the Tracker # RM-020. For safety cables use # RM-643. For lighting, if your Sidekick has a metal roof, I recommend magnetic light kit # RM-2120. If it does not have a metal roof you can still use the magnetic light kit but you will also need magnetic tow light partners # TLP01. And finally, most states...

The difference between the base plates for your 1997 Suzuki Sidekick 4-door 4x4 are what each will fit. If it is a Sport model then you would need # 1009-1. If it is NOT a Sport model use # 1007-2. Both have removable arms and will work with the Stowmaster tow bar. For safety cables you can use # RM-643. For lighting the best option I can recommend that will work for sure is a combination of tow light partners # TLP01 and magnetic lights such as # RM-2120. You may also need a high/low...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 1992 Geo Tracker Behind a Motor Home
I will be happy to help you out with your flat towing needs. The first thing you are going to want to do is consult the owners manual for your 1992 Geo Tracker. There should be information in the towing section or look for recreational towing in the index for more information on the specific procedure for your Tracker. The tow bar does not have a speed rating but the vehicle might. There are 5 items that will be needed to flat tow a vehicle: base plates, tow bar, safety cables, lighting,...

  • Can a 2008 Jeep Wrangler with Hard Rock Bumper be Flat Towed
We do not have a custom base plate kit that is compatible with the Rock Hard brand bumper on your 2008 Jeep Wrangler. However I may have a solution. Blue Ox makes a universal bolt-on base plate kit, # BX88230, that you may be able to use. It requires that the bumper be reinforced or modified to install. I have linked the instructions for you. If you determine this kit will work for you then you will need a compatible tow bar such as the Avail, # BX7420. It also comes with safety cables...

  • Everything Needed to Flat Tow a 1996 Suzuki Sidekick 2-Door Behind an RV
If the crossover tube on your 1996 Suzuki Sidekick 2-door is open you will need to use base plates # 118-3. But you mentioned that it is open with a bracket welded on each side. If that bracket is not blocking the openings on the crossover tube then # 118-3 is correct. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. The 118-3 base plates have a part of the bracket that looks like a tube that needs to be inserted into that crossover tube. If the ends are blocked then you...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 1988 Suzuki Samurai Behind an RV
No, the Roadmaster adapter # RM-033 itself isn't base plates. It is an adapter that attaches to Roadmaster base plates and allows you to then use certain Blue Ox and Demco tow bars. For actual base plates for the 1988 Suzuki Samurai we have Roadmaster base plates # 1003-1 and Blue Ox base plates # BX3501. If you go with the Roadmaster base plates I recommend the Falcon 2 tow bar # RM-520. Or if you are looking for a more economical option I recommend the Tracker # RM-020. The Tracker costs...
