Hello, neighbor, Steven here with etrailer.com. Thanks for joining me today while we take a look together at this Towing Kit with included Ball Mount and the Trailer Wiring to match up with your Stealth Hidden Hitch Receiver. Now, folks, this is is a Fit Guide Custom, so make sure you're checking our Fit Guide here at etrailer.com. Type in your year, make and model where it says My Vehicle at the top-center of the homepage. Make sure you're getting the right parts the first time. This particular kit works in conjunction with Item Number SH34FR.
That is sold separately, and that's gonna mount up to your Audi it looks like. And that being said, this complete kit will basically let you take out that two inch by two inch tube that's attached to that hitch and then pop this guy up in place and it'll lock in place and give you a two inch ball to tow a trailer with. Now, it's gonna mount securely in that tube, so it's gonna eliminate rattle and play and those kinda things. Again, you get a two inch ball rated at 8,000 pounds capacity. This is not to be used with weight distribution.
It has a one inch shank on it. This metal here is 3/4 inches thick. It's all been black powder coated for rust-preventative measures and corrosion resistance. You get the safety chain attachments, you get the wiring brackets and everything, so whenever you mount your wiring and get everything wired up to this big bundle here, that'll give you this option here. It's gonna give you that seven-blade connection.
And if you notice the lid here has a little tab on it, it's kinda hard to see, but that's gonna match up with this adapter to go from a seven-blade down to a four-pole or four flat, some people call it, connection. Now, when these two interlock, you can't pull it out without lifting the lid back up, so it's a nice little feature to help keep everything in place. You also get a length of wire, all your cable ties. There's some wire connections here in the baggie that comes with it. You get a piece of double-sided adhesive.
That's gonna be to mount this black modular box, which is the brains of the whole outfit. So, all this wiring's gonna match up to wiring on your vehicle. You do need to follow the instructions and make sure you're connecting everything at the right place and connecting 'em correctly to prevent any kind of shorts or anything. That being said, that box is made to prevent shorts, so it's gonna avoid overloading the vehicle's electrical system. It's gonna connect directly to the battery with that included wire there as well, and it's gonna give you a nice trailer signal output, the correct output, wattages, volts and everything needed for the trailer. So, nice little system there. Works great along with everything you see here on the table. Now, if you're wondering the overall length of this ball mount here is 13 inches, and center of this tube to center of the ball is 10 inches on center. Now, when you're using that hitch number SH34FR that's sold separately, you're gonna get 18 inches from the top of the ball to the ground on that particular vehicle. the longer bolts weren't included. used original bolts even though a tad short. contacted etrailer and no response couple days later.
The Stealth Hitch is a great option if you want to keep your rear end looking clean. This kit allows you to add towing ability to an already installed Stealth Hitch Rack Receiver. I added this to a 2020 Volvo XC90. You do need to remove the bumper fascia which, with the excellent videos on this site, was not very difficult. I was able to complete the project in a couple of hours.
***Note*** Stealth changed the size of the bolts holding the hitch block to the bar (from 1/2” to 5/8”) in 2021. Since I had installed my receiver rack in 2020, the included, longer bolts that you need to use to install the chain hooks did not fit. I contacted Stealth and they sent me a new kit with the smaller bolts, chain hooks, and (nicer) bracket to mount the connector to the hitch - no charge. It took about a week to get them so plan accordingly so you’re not stuck with your bumper fascia lying on the ground, not able to complete the job. I ran to the hardware store to grab some temporary bolts so I could get everything back together until the correct bolts came. I’m hoping I can change out the correct bolts without having to remove the bumper fascia again.
