Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com, and today we're gonna take a brief look at this Brake Buddy towed vehicle battery charge kit. This is going to maintain the battery charge on your towed vehicle while you are flat towing it. It uses up to 15 amps from your RV's battery to keep your towed vehicle's battery charged. So you're never going to have to worry about a dead battery on your vehicle after unhooking it from being towed behind your RV. Our customers seem to be overall very happy with this kit, and they say it's very easy to install. And it's just gonna give you the peace of mind knowing that your car is gonna be ready to go when you arrive at the campsite or at the RV park, and your vehicle will be ready to go after you unhook it from your RV.

I used one these on my first toad and never had an issue with a dead battery. So this is my second purchase. Pretty easy install. A bit tricky to find a place in the open to mount it in the CR-V. I want it easy to see and easy to check/change fuse.
Brake Buddy battery tender was fine. Easy instalation.
The Blue Ox brake unit is extremely cheaply made! For $[XX] i was expecting alot more.
If I was a betting man I would say made over seas but advertisement says otherwise.
etrailer is easy to deal with and attentive to customer needs but this Blue Ox Patriot unit is really cheap.
Wiring kit worked perfectly on a 2021 Jeep wrangler sport. Plenty of wire length to correctly make all wiring terminations. Item properly trickle charges battery.
did not know how to attach these pictures to the site you provided in your email so I am sending to you like this. First, my overall rating is five stars. Second, the installation was not hard at all and took me less than an hour. Third, the lack of instructions leave a lot to an individual's imagination but with so many different vehicles I understand why. However, a link to the general instructions in your video file would help a lot.
These pictures show my installation of the battery maintainer on my 2014 Fiat 500 L.
Picture 1 is of the mounted fuse unit on the driver's side fender firewall.
Picture 2 shows the ground wire (White wire attached to the front quarter panel attachment bolt.
Picture 3 shows the Black wire attached to the Positive terminal on the battery.
Picture 4 shows the charge unit and fuse mounted on the driver's side fender firewall together.
Picture 5 shows the vehicle taillight wiring lines being followed down to the six way plug on the front of the towed vehicle.

Excellent. I have had no problems I have recommended it to four friends.
Very easy to install with great directions. I placed one on my 2500 4x4 ram truck and one on our jeep wrangler. We have had no issues to speak of, great product.
This is a mixed review. The product works as expected. It was straightforward to install. It keeps the battery topped off while it is being towed down the road. The issue I had with it was that it burned up after about a year. I am not sure if that was due to product location within the engine bay or bad quality. I purchased another one due to all the wiring already being in place. So far the second one is working. Therefore I can’t call it a terrible product but it did fail. You have decide for yourself if you want to purchase this product.
Lousy. No led light to let you know if you're getting any power to charger.No lights to let you know if battery is charging. No hardware or instructions for installation.Ifyour wifi is down or no internet you can't get online to see installing info. Most often black wire is ground and red is hot on DC batteries. Not on this charger so if your not familiar with electrical hook up, well your pretty much at a stand still until you can go on line.

I still fil the same. Every time I leave for a trip, I never know if the charger is charging my battery. There is no LED Ligt indicator to let me know if there is power to the charger or if battery is charging. Im looking for a row charger that has indicator lights.
etrailer was a great resource when setting up my 2021 Wrangler Islander for flat towing! The BrakeBuddy works great... we haven't had any problem with the battery at all. Would highly recommend it!

The battery charger was simple and didn't take time to install, but I do have a question and is where can I take power to charge the tow vehicle if you only have the basic trailer connection on the coach.
Great job as always, I had a dead line to get the parts to me because I was leaving town. These guys are the best!!

So far it seems to be working OK, the Blue lite is on.
Had it installed yesterday. Very well done but came with the flat connector instead of the round 6 pin connector so had to modify to include the battery charger. This company is not part of Blue Ox tow bar manufacturer which is confusing. It all checks out so think it will work good but above issues is why the 3 stars.

Working just fine
Installation was simple and straightforward, fortunately etrailer had a video as no instructions were included in the box. I have not road tested yet but as soon as I plugged the car to the RV a blue light on the charger illuminated showing it was receiving power. A quick check with a voltage meter showed the battery was receiving a charge.
So, I purchase this kit from you and you and when asking for instructions on you say there are NO Instructions from the manufacturer". So how do you all propose I proceed? So NO wiring diagram, NOTHING???
Sure NOT the kind of service I come to expect from etrailer.

Thank you for your review. Since this part is designed to be used with the Brake Buddy supplemental braking system you can use the instructions from that part to install the charger. I have attached a helpful link for your reference.
