This is the first time I have ordered trailer tires from Etrailer and I did not know what to expect with regard to service and product quality. The last pair of tires I had on my pontoon boat trailer were 185/80R13 Marathon tires but according to the specifications, the Etrailer 185/80R13 tires had a better load rating and higher safe speed rating than my old Marathon tires. My Etraier tires also have a 2/2018 date of manufacturing which was also a plus.

Great ... I sold my pontoon boat recently but the tires exceeded my expectations. I now go to Etrailer for tire recommendation and technical advise. I recently bought a spare tire and rim for my new Venture trailer from Etrailer. Thanks, PW

by: Andy 03/27/2024

feel stable and smooth.... wearing good so far after 1000 miles.... I went one size bigger and one up on load and speed rating than my oem pop up tires and I am glad I did... much better ride..

by: John D.07/07/2014

Tires arrived quickly, package well, and best of all they are only two months old. Will evaluate tires as time goes by, but etrailer.com did a great job of fulfilling my order.

After having these tires for a year, I must say I am pleased. They are wearing well, hold air great, and offer a good ride.

by: Rob B.02/23/2015

After researching tires for several days, watching etrailer videos and reading all the Q&A's, I decided on this particular size and brand because they're excellent in quality and couldn't find any local dealer that carried them. I ordered the tires, steel wheels and baby moon hubs all together to go on a 15' Scotty camper.
They look great and I would recommend them to anyone who needs a smaller, yet durable tire.

by: Steve 04/24/2024

Great Service!

Speedy fast delivery
and excellent communication!

Highly recommend them!!!!!

by: Scuba Knight07/25/2016

These seem to last a lot longer than the load C tires. They have worked great on my hunting boat trailer.

Scuba K.

7/25/2017

Tire is running great and wear just like it should.

by: Craig B03/10/2015

These tires are great! Not too many miles on them yet but they ride well. The load range of these tires is great too. The awesome part of this purchase was the tires shipped the same day I ordered them and they arrived in four days! Great customer service!

by: Lori 08/31/2023

Excellent service!! The order came in very fast and I would highly recommend anyone to order there tires for you guys in a heartbeat. The product was shipped in in individual boxes so nothing else could touch the tires and I was in pressed by that also.

by: Stephen 03/07/2023

I can't really evaluate the tires yet...The arrived in only 2 days and the boxes they were shipped in looked brand new!! Unpacked one tire...appearance was excellent. This is the second set of "Loadstar ST185/80D13 Bias Trailer Tire - Load Range D" that I have purchased and will write more in a couple of weeks after I get them mounted. Thanks for the great service and unbelievably fast shipping!
Great service E-Trailer!!

by: Luis Ruezga07/16/2016

Got new loadstar tires for my coleman Fleetwood Rio they look great and ride even better. The ride over all is smooth and stable.

by: Alexander 11/17/2022

I used these on my ATV trailer...The Load Range D makes a huge difference over the Load range C sidewalls. No more bouncing or swaying from sidewall flex. It really improved the ride quality of the trailer and are much tougher than most other trailer tires offered for a 13 inch rim.

by: Jeffrey 07/18/2020

So this is the second set of these I have ordered for my 2001 Palamino Pop Up. The first set held air pressure all 10 years I had them and we took 25 trips with them (I just checked that fact the other day). So we had no problems until one popped on the interstate. At 10 years old, not a surprise nor disappointing.

Now the last set I ordered were already on rims mounted and balanced. These new ones came packaged as tires only. The my are way deformed for shipping and folded on half. We will see if they right themselves under air pressure. Not sure how they will get mounted. I used a mounting and balance machine a long time ago only an Army auto craft shop. Can’t imagine how these will turn out. I will update my rating if the experience is a debacle. If the tire shop thinks nothing of it, I will leave myv5 star rating as is.

Jeffrey

7/19/2021

The tires are perfect. They mounted just fine and ride just fine. Still holding air and haven’t added any in a year. We don’t pull it much these days, but I am confident I have a solid tire.

by: Melissa K06/19/2014

I have never ordered tires online or for a trailer before this experience. They had exactly the tire that I wanted in the correct size that I wanted. That made it very simple to just call them up and order. We received the tires in 3 business days. We have not taken a trip on these tires yet but I expect them to be just fine when we do. If you are looking to replace original tires for your camping trailer, this is the place to look first. I will return here for future trailer needs.

Melissa K.

6/19/2015

Only took one trip on them last summer. One tire went flatlow sitting over the winter. We have kept it aired up during the spring, not sure if this is due to the tire or how they were installed on the trailer. never had that happen on the original tires in 6 years. So a little worried about what might happen on the one trip we plan to take this summer. any advice?

6/23/2015

The problem you are describing may be associated with how the wheel was installed on your existing rim, or potentially with the valve stem. If the tire is no seated properly on the wheel, and if the valve stem is bad, or does not have a good seal, you may experience slow air leaks overtime.

by: Robert11/25/2018

Excellent order with fast Delivery and they exemplify my rims and trailer.

by: Kirk 07/06/2019

I bought these tires to put on my travel trailer. The outside and inside treads are wearing faster than the 3 center treads. I always check the pressure before getting on the road and both tires are inflated to 65 pounds.
I only have 18 thousand miles on them. I'm very disappointed in the wear pattern.

Etrailer Expert

Mike L.

7/10/2019

Tire treads that are worn at the edges would typically indicate an under inflated tire. Have you tired a different tire gauge in order to confirm your readings? If the pressure is fine, a bent axle or worn suspension parts could certainly cause the wear you describe, as well. The tires are covered by a 2 year warranty. Please call our Customer Service folks at 800-298-8924 for details.

by: Leonard 04/05/2023

tires came packaged well. we will see how they work when i get them mounted and on the trailer.

by: Bruce B09/30/2016

Tires were sent very fast and well packed in a box, not just shrink wrapped. The tires themselves are by far a better tire than what came on my boat trailer. They are almost twice as heavy as the originals and much stiffer sidewall. They pull better than the old tires ever did. Their price beat any I could find here on a comparable tire. I will be getting in touch with them when I need tires again. I would rate them A- double plus.

Bruce B.

10/2/2017

I have put many miles on these tires, including many back roads and trails, and have had no problems with the tires. They show very little wear for the amount of miles and abuse they have had. Would I buy them again? In a heartbeat!!!

by: Charles 06/16/2021

The replacement tires were for my boat trailer, and have held up well. The professional customer Service provided by your team was excellent! Keep up the good work, thanks!

by: Doug P06/30/2017

This rating is for customer service and assistance in purchasing new tires for my pop-up camper. Since I have just received the tires I can't honestly rate them. But if they perform as well as ETRAILER I'm sure I will be a happy camper. I ordered the tires on Thursday and they were delivered the following Wednesday. Thanks for the recommendation, the quick delivery, and a fair price. I'm sure this won't be my last purchase.

Doug P.

6/30/2018

I have made several long distance and a few shorter trips with these tires over the past year. The roads vary from Interstate Highways to country backroads. The tires have performed flawlessly under a wide variety of weather conditions. I am completely satisfied. And as I predicted this wasnt my last purchase from etrailer. Thanks for great products and great service.

by: Don 09/30/2021

Tires look good. Will have them mounted tomorrow. Where somewhat out of shape from being packaged tight. Hopefully they will shape up when mounted.

Don

10/1/2022

750 miles on the tires and no problems.

by: Mike L05/27/2015

Super fast shipping. I buy new tires every five years for my pop-up, and with the Loadstar tires have never had a tire issue. I am very satisfied with the service I get from these tires. Also, E-trailer has the best price that I have found anywhere. I would recommend these.

Tires are still running strong!

by: Kim S.04/25/2014

I placed my order on Friday and had my tires by Tuesday. Excellent customer service and no shipping fees to boot. Easy ordering, no hassle and they kept me informed all along the way of where my tires where. I have not worked with this company before, but will in the future when there is another need. I would recommend etrailer to friends and family. Totally satisfied customer

Kim S.

5/7/2015

I ordered my tires on a weekday and poof they appeared within a day or two. Awesome customer service. I ordered 2 replacement tires and shortly thereafter I sold my popup to my brother who drove it from North Carolina down to the Keys where he lives - he has made multiple trips throughout Florida and has not had any problems at all with the tires and wanted to make sure he knew where I purchased them when it time to replace. Will definitely be a repeat customer. These people do an awesome job!

Ask the Experts about this Kenda Trailer Tires and Wheels
Do you have a question about this Trailer Tires and Wheels?

  • Difference Between 80R13 and 80D13 Tires on Boat Trailer
  • Great question! The difference is that the "D" in the 80D13, like the Kenda # AM1ST79, means it is a Bias ply tire where the "R" in the 80R13, like the Kenda # AM10208, means it is a Radial ply tire. Bias tires are the original trailer tire and do a great job. They have a stiffer sidewall which makes them better for off-road and agricultural trailers. Radials are the "new" kid on the block and are designed more for highway trailer use. They have more flex in the sidewall which helps...

  • Does a Radial Trailer Tire have Better Roll Resistance than a Bias Trailer Tire
  • There is a difference in the way a bias tire rides versus a radial tire. A radial trailer tire will offer a smoother ride and will track better behind the tow vehicle than a bias tire. This seems to indicate that a radial tire would have less roll resistance also but under load you would probably not be able to tell the difference. For either type of tire, be it a radial tire or a bias tire like the Loadstar # AM1ST79 that you have referenced, it is important to inflate the tire to the...

  • What Is The Difference Between Load Range C And Load Range D Tires For Trailer
  • The difference between Load Range C and Load Range D tires is load capacity and psi rating. The tire you mentioned, part # AM1ST79 is a Load Range D tire and has a maximum load capacity of 1,710-lbs at 65 psi when used as a single tire and 1,520-lbs when used as a dual. We do not offer the St185/80-13 tire with a Load Range C rating.

  • The only difference between the # AM10208 and the # AM1ST79 ST185/80-13 tires you referenced is that the # AM1ST79 is a bias-ply tire while the # AM10208 is a radial. Either tire would mount just fine on a 13 inch rim that's 4, 4-1/2 or 5 inches wide, so they'll work perfectly with your existing wheels. Either tire has a 1710 lb weight capacity per tire or 3420 lb per axle so they'll easily be able to handle the 2400 lb weight of your trailer. Radial tires will provide a smoother ride...

Very fast shipping. The tires are excellent quality and big upgrade from the load range B bias ply I had previously.

David

4/7/2024

Excellent after 1 year. Multiple 2 hour trips down I95 at 64 MPH and many 20 minute trips to the local boat ramp and no issues.

by: Beth 03/21/2024

So far so good. Traveled well on the highway as well as some dirt roads. Better than tire purchased at the farm stores. I did have to have mounted on my rims at a minimal cost.

by: Alfred02/28/2024

The wheel center cap was missing. Then when I called Wednesday evening they will send me a replacement cap but not before this weekend when I’m taking the trailer out. They wouldn’t overnight the 1 lb centercap! Said I’ll get it next week. Their mistake Terrible customer service!!

by: Phil H.10/21/2012

I bought 2 wheels and 3 tires to replace some old tires on my double PWC trailer. Put both new wheels on yesterday and mounted the extra on an old wheel for a spare. Mounted this to the trailer using spare tire carrier and everything worked out great. The tires and wheels look great and the spare mounted without any problems to the trailer.

by: Duane04/25/2020

Just what I was after. Shipping was fast and tires arrived in individual boxes that were in perfect shape when they got here. Thanks again for another successful purchase.

Duane

4/26/2021

The tires are working out for me as expected. Great tires for my boat trailer.

by: Gregory07/12/2021

Bought 3 of these to replace the original 2 tires + spare on my 2014 single axle travel trailer. Tires perform very well, no problems.

by: Grant04/12/2016

I bought this tire to replace the spare on my trailer of 18 yrs. Also bought the wheels with the same tires, now my trailer looks like a newer model. THANKS ETRAILER!

by: Jeff04/09/2024

I think they are great tires. I bought 2 sets of cheaper tires and both of the sets leaked out the sidewall. Don’t waist your time looking for cheaper tires, it’s not worth it. Buy from etrailer.

by: Trapper02/28/2024

Shipping was very fast. Haven’t used the tires yet but the price is right for a good quality tire.

by: Paul 09/25/2023

They have been great, much better than the load range c tires that exploded.

by: Ronald D03/07/2014

I recieved the trailer tires really fast. They have a good tread design and when mounted look great. I installed them on a very small travel trailer which came out with a load range C. These have a load range D which should be an improvement due to a little more pressure and carring capacity. I am very pleased with the delivery time and looks of the tires.

by: Emmy07/26/2023

Excellent as always. This particular tire size and Load Range is superior to garbage tires sold at Walmart.

by: Don06/02/2023

Exactly what I was looking for to match the other tire. Hard to find these tires in a "D" load rating and in radial design.
My trailer torsion suspension failed on one side and caused the old tire to rub on the fender. The old tire is not holding air now so I'm just replacing the old tire with a matching unit.

by: James 10/10/2023

Fast, speedy delivery of a set of tires. Customer service staff is outstanding with answers to questions within minutes. Thank you all.

by: Tom 04/19/2023

these tires hold up very well and give years of service. If you are mounting them yourself, they're very easy to seal on the rims.

by: Joseph05/31/2023

Perfect fit to replace boat trailer tire they don’t make anymore. Arrived on time great looking tire very happy I purchased them

by: Michael 11/09/2023

Great tire, replaced old dry rotted tire perfectly.Trailer rides smoothly.

by: TomSMD08/07/2016

I purchased two of these tires for my boat trailer 5 years ago. They had maybe 10-12k miles on them. Last fall I had one of the tires go bad - the tire cords failed causing uneven wear. It didn't blow out but I was perhaps lucky. Purchased a replacement - same tire. Last month I had a similar cord failure with the other old tire. After that problem was going to purchase 2 new name brand tires but couldn't find any D load rating tires in the 175/80R13 tires. Decided to just buy another Karrier tire. When my mechanic changed out the second tire he said the inside of this one was far worse than the first failure. I was running the tires with 55 psi of air with a max listed pressure of 65 psi. Maybe that was a factor so now running the tires at 60 psi and plan on changing them after 3 years. Not real comfortable with these tires but hopefully I can get 3 years out of them without a failure.

by: Tommy F.05/28/2019

Just returned from 2nd long road with about 3400 miles each. Also logged a few 300 mile trips. So far, holding up well. Run 50 psi. Tires are D rated. This is my 2nd set of 4(double axle). 1st set didn't quite go as far. Had sidewall failure on two of the four. Maybe bad batch. Would recommend due to steel belts and D rating. Original equip. was C rated and fiber glass belted.

5/30/2019

Trailer tires, unlike those used on passenger vehicles, should be kept at the maximum pressure indicated on the tire sidewall, which is 70 psi in this case. Failure to keep the tires fully inflated can lead to excessive heat build-up, which is the number one cause of premature tire failure.

by: Teofilo morales Tony07/22/2023

Outstanding customer service and very fast delivery of the items a bought. Thanks again etrailer for great service

by: Peter 03/17/2023

This was my first experience purchasing new trailer for my RV trailer and my first experience with etrailer. James R assisted me in ordering the right tires and the tires were shipped THE SAME DAY. I would highly recommend etrailer and I will order from them in the future.

by: Richard 12/02/2023

Great response and fast shipping

by: Don07/07/2017

Easy ordering. Fast delivery. Excellent tires. We are very pleased with these tires. It is a HUGE difference in how well and nice the trailer tows, rides, and tracks compared to the old tires! Huge peace of mind. Installed on a Fleetwood (Coleman) Sante Fe tent trailer. I would definitely purchase these tires from etrailer again.

Don

7/8/2018

After a year on the road, still very happy with the performance of these tires.

by: Richard 05/03/2023

This was a replacement tire for my trailer and is exactly what I needed

by: Douglas05/10/2021

We have used these tires for 8 years (3 sets) for our heavier than normal hard side pop-up camper trailer. Most of our miles are on gravel roads and these tires have stood the test.

etrailer has always been top notch to work with and ship on time.

  • Comparing 175/80-13 And 185/80-13 Tires
  • The size difference between the Kenda Karrier ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D # AM10210 and a 185-80R13 tire is the diameter and the width. We don't have any radials in that size, so I'll compare to the similar Kenda Loadstar ST185/80D13 Bias Trailer Tire - Load Range D # AM1ST79. The 175/80-13 tires have a diameter of 24.1 inches and a width of 7 inches compared to the slightly larger 185/80-13 tires that have a diameter of 24.4 inches and a width of 7.2 inches. The...

  • What Are Differences Between Bias (D) And Radial (R) Tires
  • The main difference between a "D" (bias) tire and an "R" (radial tire) is how they are constructed. The cords inside a bias ply tire run at a 32 degree angle to the direction of travel whereas the cords on a radial tire run at a 90 degree angle to the direction of travel. A bias tire has stiffer sidewalls and is generally better suited for off road applications like farm use. A radial flexes more and generally has better ground contact, traction, and stability than a bias. A radial...

  • Will Higher Load Range Trailer Tires Change Trailer Ride Quality
  • The metric equivalent size for an A78x13ST original trailer tire is the ST175/80-13 size you referenced. Changing to a higher Load Range tire will not really affect your ride quality very much. But what this will do is help to prevent excess heat in the tires since they will tend to remain cooler if they are used below their rated capacity.
