Here we have DeadBolts extra long trailer hitch receiver lock for 2-1/2 inch trailer hitches, part number RH5-XL. This lock can be used with 2 inch, as well as 2-1/2 inch, trailer hitch receivers, class III through V. The pin is 5/8 diameter and has an inside width of 3-5/8 inches. It is made of chrome plated steel here in the USA. And it comes with a pair of keys and a rubber cover for the lock face. It uses DeadBolts patented pick-proof screw and lock design. The lock cylinder threads on to the hitch pin. So, as you turn the key, you are un-turning threads that secure the lock to the end of the pin. And that does it for DeadBolts trailer hitch receiver lock for 2-1/2 inch trailer hitches, part number RH5-XL.

This is a nice robust pin. The key doesn't simply turn half way left or right to lock or unlock. But rather the key is used to continually unscrew and unlock the device. Likewise you continually rotate the key several times to lock it back. Once the key is removed the steel end cap will no longer turn unsecured. This worked well on my new 2012 Silverado 2500HD with the 2 1/2" hitch.28405

The "Dead Bolt" RH5-XL receiver lock is a high quality class-V (5) lock that looks great and actually fits the HD oversized hitch receiver that came standard on my 2011 Silverado 2500 HD. I tried several that claimed to fit, but did not. If you are looking for a class-V (5) receiver lock for the HD Chevrolet, don't waist time looking elsewhere. I have not yet had the oppurtunity to put this trailer lock to use (primarily intended for boat use in summer) but just from the look and feel alone I am pleased. It is very heavy duty and solidly made. I like the turning key/threaded locking mechanism as well as the rubber grips. From the first time I had a question, right up to delivery, etrailer has been great! I have an 05 Tacoma, and recently bought a trailer to haul my wifes and my ATV's. Bought a hitch lock from the local auto parts store, and threw the receipt away, figuring that it would work, but as it turned out, the lock barely went through the receiver and wouldn't engage the lock,when I tried to lock it. After a little frustration, did some research online, and found out this is a common problem on this truck, found an ad for etrailer, checked out the different locks, and found the one I needed. This receiver lock is much longer than my other lock , locks up my hitch mount safely and securely, nice stainless steel finish, looks as though it should last a long time. Since this was our first trailer hitch cover purchase, I didn't realize that I would also need a trailer hitch cover lock. Once I came to this realization, I visited a couple of local regional & national auto parts retailers and couldn't find a suitable lock. I have recently purchased a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD and was unable to find a hitch pin lock locally. Chevrolet has increased the hitch on these trucks to a 2 1/2 inch with a 2 inch insert. This requires a 3 1/2 inch clear locking pin. Your pin fit perfectly. A real nice addition to my truck. Thanks.48963

The DeadBolt extra long lock product is excellent and fits my son's new 2012 Chevy Silverado HD 2500 trailer receiver as described that if would. It is very easy to install or remove. Your website video was very helpful with this selection. I like the fact that I was able to have all three keyed the same. The GMC hitch receiver cover is perfect for my 2011 GMC Yukon XL. My son has not had an opportunity to install the Du-Ha under seat truck storage box, but I am confident that he will be extremely happy with it's storage features, especially when hunting season rolls around. Works just as advertised. Fits my 2012 GMC Sierra 2500HD perfectly. I read the other reviews before I bought this item. Wanted to make sure it would fit. Looks rugged but practical. Although you have to rotate the key several times, this item features a positive locking system. I originally purchased a different type for my new pickup. The lock fell off on I-40. Fortunately, the pin stayed in and I didn't loose my utility trailer! Lesson learned---buy the good stuff. I recommend the RH5-XL if you need a good locking mechanism for the newer, wider receiver hitch.39318

This is great for those of us who own 3/4 ton HD trucks like a gmc Sierra and the hitch receiver has thicker brackets, this accommodates that width when no other lock does, just wish Master Lock would make theirs bigger by 1/4 inch to work as well, as theirs is stainless and this one is not, would be a nice added feature to this one, but definitely does the trick. 31638
