Exhaust gases must reach a minimum temperature before the catalytic converter can break down any toxic emissions. Because of its proximity to the engine, the pre-converter heats up more quickly and begins to function in less time than a main converter. It also helps the main converter to reach operating temperature sooner. Aside from heating the exhaust system more quickly, the pre-converter breaks down some of the toxins before the main converter reduces the remaining toxins.

Computer generated and laser welded, this pre-converter has a tubular body fabricated from one whole section, spun tightly around the ceramic catalyst to keep the ceramic in proper alignment and to create its innovative compact shape. Thick-gauge material forms the inlet and outlet for maximum durability.

This pre-converter accommodates both single inline exhaust systems and dual systems with Y-pipes.
