Video Transcript for PTC Custom Fit Cabin Air Filter Installation - 2014 Dodge Journey

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2014 Dodge Journey, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the PTC custom fit cabin air filter. So if we hold our PTC filter next to our factory filter, you can tell that they're going to be pretty much identical and that they're going to work really well, giving you that peace of mind.So if you take a look at the old filter, this will give you a good idea on how important it is to keep your cabin air filter clean. Kind of spread those pleats apart, you can see all that dirt and dust and debris. The cabin air filter is going to catch that and prevent you from breathing that in. So it's a very important component, which is often overlooked.

So not only is the cabin air filter going to help keep your car smelling better, it's going to help out with your allergies and reduce that wear and tear on your HVAC system. So pretty similar to the furnace filter at your house. We want to keep that nice and clean. And whenever that filter is dirty, it does reduce the efficiency of your furnace, no different with your car's HVAC system. Having a clean filter is going to help it run freely and efficiently, keeping you cool in the summer and warm and the winter.To begin our install, we're going to need to remove our old filter.

Now this is located on the passenger side of our Journey, behind the glove box. So to make it easier to get to, we're just going to pop our glove box out. So if we open it up, and on each side of it, there's going to be a little indention there. And what you're going to do is take your fingertip and kind of push those in. That will allow the glove box to drop down and out of the way.

Just to kind of give you a better look at those tabs I was talking about, here's exactly what they look like.So through this opening, you just take them and push them in. So if you look inside of our dash here, you can see we have a little trap door and our cabin air filter is inside of that. So to get it off, there's going to just be some tabs on each end of it here. So you're just going to take your fingers, kind of push down. That door will pop right off.

Now here's our cabin air filter, and before you pull this out you want to pay attention to the markings here. There's an arrow that says airflow. You want to remember that direction because we want to be sure to install the new one the same way. That being said, we'll pop that out, set it to the side. We grab our new filter, verify that the air flows in the correct orientation. That just slides in. Then we can just reinstall our cover. So once we have that cover back on, all we have to simply do is raise our glove box back into position.And that'll finish up our look at and our installation of the PTC custom fit cabin air filter on our 2014 Dodge Journey.
