Front Suspension Support

A heavy front load can cause front-end sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the front axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the weight of your vehicle. And because there is less weight on your rear axle, your rear tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your vehicle's factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.

Installed spring when it is not compressed

SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The closed-cell urethane material allows for smooth contact between the springs and your vehicle. And the springs act like a shock absorber to dampen road vibration.

Installed spring when it is compressed

The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy front load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your rear tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. The springs also support your factory suspension, which helps prevent sagging and reduces bottoming out.

The springs work independently from one another to support each side of your vehicle. This action helps to reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn. This also helps compensate for an off-center load.

Durable, Custom-Fit Springs

These microcellular urethane springs are tough. They resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays that can more quickly wear out other springs, and they perform well in temperatures ranging from -25 F to 200 F (-33 C to 93 C).

SumoSprings compress vertically with minimum expansion to the sides, so they won't be damaged by nearby mechanical parts and they fit safely into tighter spots. And unlike air springs, SumoSprings require no maintenance or adjustment.

The helper springs are custom designed to fit your vehicle, and they install easily - no drilling required.

Love the product fairly easy to install. Took just about two hours for all four Sumosprings. The front was a bit more challenging and I’ve seen somewhere else about using a plastic bag that you can cut up and inserted in the 13 mm deep socket, this will keep the nut in place while threading.

Your videos are very helpful and strongly suggest that you create a how too for the front replacement

Comments
Love them. Highly recommend both front and rear. Easy to install
Thomas - 10/15/2020

Easy ordering. All fitment information was on website. Fast delivery. InstallTion was a snap. My Ford E350 did not require the lockout and washer, the Sumo threaded directly into the frame where the original bump block was attached.

6500 miles on the Sumo Springs and they are working fine

2018 Subaru Forester

This was a very easy install. It took less than an hour. I installed them on a 2018 Forest River Forester which is on an E450 chassis. My rig is equipped with Firestone airbags in the back so I only needed the Sumos in the front.

I’m looking forward seeing how they improve the handling of my RV. I haven’t ventured out on the road.

Comments
Great product. Really helps with front end sway. My Class C RV handles well. Sumo Springs have really paid off.
Creeker J - 07/05/2019

by:

We love our Sumos. They are easy to install and they helped with our sway and jouncing. Unfortunately, we just added a new rear suspension package which lifted the rear about 2 inches. Now the Sumos don’t touch the axle and won’t provide much sway damping. They act now more like a very fancy jounce bumper. Still good to know that the rear Sumos will give us extra protection should we hit a wicked pothole. Front sumos still snug against the axle and helping with sway and crosswinds

by:
2014 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter

The SumoSprings arrived within one week of ordering them and I installed them myself. I am very happy with the performance of them.

Great addition to my E-350 Class-C Motorhome! Helped With rough roads and sway, simple install ! Thanks again for prompt service

by:
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter

The addition of these Sumo Springs to the front of our Sprinter Class C motor home made a big difference in ride quality and handling of our motorhome. And as always etrailer has great prices on quality equipment.

by:
2019 Ram 3500

Installed on a 2019 Sprinter 3500 RV. Great improvement on overall handling. Actual ride over bumps etc was slight improvement. But I couldn't believe how much better the vehicle steered and handled on the highway after installation. Much more control and more relaxing for driver.

by:

It made a big difference in how the steering feels at lower speeds on rough roads.

by:
Chevrolet Colorado

wasn't sure if I believed all the hype about the Sumosprings but after driving in strong winds through Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona I was very much impressed with the way my Class C motorhome handled... glad I got them when I did....

by:

Installation was easy. Just screw the Sumo Spring in , don’t follow and put the nut on. The bolt isn’t long enough.

Comments
Still very satisfied with the SumoSprings. Has helped a lot with front end sway.
John P - 07/24/2022

by:

The ride is great. But did not eliminate the sway when semi-trucks overtake me. Trucks pressure forces steering right have to be aware all the time. 4 stars Excellent for suspension ride, 3.5 stars for sway control.

by:
2018 Jayco Greyhawk Motorhome

I found these springs while researching a towing question. I was more than impressed with portrayal of part, adequate info and glowing reviews. I was further delighted by speed of arrival and impressed with branding of the packaging. Top notch. Front and back installed in about an hour. Instructions
are clear. Took me more time to figure the socket size for removing the E-450 OEM front stops.

by:
2008 Dodge Sprinter

I'm not feeling it ... I purchased both a front and read set of springs for a 2008 Dodge Sprinter. The front install was easy but the rear was a pain even with the rear tires removed. I feel the instructions to bend the corner of the spring tab did not work for me. I had to bent some metal to push the springs in place as well as some grease.

Ride quality improved for the front but not the rear. The springs in the front maintain a constant contact with the lower arm. The rear springs do not contact the axel. This may be due to no real load in the van rear. The rear leaf springs are original with no other modifications.

Comments
I would like to reach out to the manufacturer about the issues that you are having with the rear springs. I wanted to ask if you have the 2500 or 3500 Dodge Sprinter van?

We are extremely happy with customer service and all their help in choosing the right suspension parts for our Dynamax Isata 3 Motorhome, these really made a huge difference when traveling.

by:

I love the Sumo Springs. Great product. Excellent performance. Very easy installation.

by:

We installed the front Sumosprings on our Class C Jayco Melbourne a year ago. We immediately noticed a big positive difference in the ride. It was much smoother and had much less impact when going over bumps in the road. The biggest difference we noted was a great deal better stability in side-to-side sway when going around corners, crosswinds on the road, and going over entry curbs. This was a great addition and I highly recommend it.

by:

These made the ride so much better less rocking and smoother.

by:

Best investment in replacing air bags that never worked well.

by:

Received products in a very timely mann er.

by:

Easy one person install! Key is a 13mm deep socket. I used the provided jack of my 2015 Winnebago View to lift the front wheel of the ground (also used additional jackstands for safety). I was able to reach over the tire from the outside to remove existing bump stop and install the SumoSprings. The ride improvement (when coupled with the rear SumoSpring rear helpers) is incredible! No more extreme sway/roll when transitioning across uneven surfaces! Best is the almost total elimination of swaying when passed by tractor trailer rigs on the interstate! Highly recommend this modification especially for Class C rigs.

Comments
Performance is over original review. Highly recommended mod!

Ford e350 super duty motorhome 2021 had a terrible ride. The sumo springs improved the ride especially on rough roads and improved the sway when passed by a semi. Also improved front tire wear. I should have stock to my wanting a Chevy chassis. LSt ford I will ever own!

by:
2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter

Along with the rear bump shocks a big performance improvement on my 2019 sprinter chassis RV on cornering and handling bumps. Installed all four in an hour

by:

I just now received my springs. So give me some time to get them installed and I'll write a review on performance

by:

These front bump stops were easy to install and work very well to help control vehicle roll and on road stability. I am very happy with them.
First pic 0451: Shows the new vs the old bump stop!
Second pic 0508: Shows the right stop installed and uncompressed.
Third pic 2825: shows left bump stop fully compressed.

  • Installation of SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs SSF-106-47 on 2017 Ford E-450
When installing the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSF-106-47 you simply need to ensure you use jack stands to support your 2017 Ford E-450's frame so the front suspension hangs freely. It is not recommended or necessary to use Loc-Tite when installing these springs. You will only need to thread the stud on the springs into the mounting location. I have attached links to both the installation instructions and a video of these springs being installed on a '17 E-Series for you...

For a great choice for front-axle SumoSprings on your 2021 Thor Axis motorhome on a Ford E-450 chassis, I recommend the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSF-106-47. • What Does the Capacity Mean for Sumo Springs on a 2018 Coachmen Freelander
This is a great question and one that can cause some confusion. SumoSprings capacity is determined by how much weight it takes to compress the spring down to 50% of its original body height, so a spring like the # SSF-106-40 will compress down to half of it's unweighted height with 500-lbs of pressure. The # SSF-106-47 is going to be a stronger spring with it's 1000-lbs capacity. Keep in mind, these aren't designed to upgrade the GVWR, but they're designed to help cushion the load that...

In regards to the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSF-106-47 for 1,000 lbs and part # SSF-106-40 for 500 lbs for a 2013 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, the difference is the hardness of the spring rather than length. Therefore, they will both engage at the same time but the amount of give for example will be different. The softer 500 lb spring will have more give therefore offers a smoother ride but also does not provide as much body roll reduction as the harder 1,000 lb version....
