Specs:

  • Application: rear coil spring suspensions
  • Designed to work with a suspension system that is in good working order
  • Coil SumoSprings will not increase your vehicle's weight-carrying capacity. Do not exceed the manufacturer's weight limit for your vehicle.
  • Limited Lifetime warranty
  • 30-Day satisfaction guarantee

Insert these helper springs in between the individual coil loops in your rear coil springs to defeat driver fatigue and add better support for heavy loads. Most factory coil suspensions have a difficult time hauling added weight. The rear coils may struggle with supporting the extra load placed on your rear axle when you're towing a trailer or using a hitch-mounted cargo carrier or bike rack. If your coil springs are totally squished under a load, the lack of shock absorption can be harsh on your backside, especially if you spend long hours sitting in your vehicle while driving to your campsite.

Coil SumoSpring installed between rungs of coil spring

Inside each helper spring, a core of microcellular polyurethane foam adds cushioning between your coils to make your ride more comfortable. Each doughnut-shaped spring has H-shaped channels at the top and bottom that fit to the rung of an individual coil in your rear coil springs. The cushioning absorbs shock, but also works progressively to better support weight, keeping your truck level.

Unlike air springs that fit inside your coil springs, these polyurethane springs require no air pressure monitoring, and they are easier to install. Say goodbye to air lines, valves and air tanks and hello to maintenance-free suspension support. Unbumpify your ride with Coil SumoSprings for coil suspensions.

2021 Chrysler Pacifica

Took a chance and ordered rears for my 2021 AWD Pacifica even though the AWD model wasn't listed. After cutting a couple of inches off they fit perfectly! Coils are tight so you'll need to unbolt the bottom shock bolt to gain an extra inch of decompression. Once installed there's no difference in ride hight or ride with the van unloaded. Once loaded up it gives the extra support needed to prevent scraping my muffler pulling in and out of driveways. I know this mod voids the warranty, but it was a chance worth taking.

by:

Timely shipping, and correct product. Only issue was that kit didn't have the tie straps included so my installer provided them.

by:

I installed the Sumo Springs in my 2016 Toyota Highlanderthey fit well. Total install took approximately 10 minutes.

by:
2015 Toyota Highlander

I was very pleased with the Sumo Springs for my 2015 Toyota Highlander Limited rear springs. Was a little worried if they would fit and if I could install them myself. Turned out to be fairly easy after watching a few YouTube videos. It's important to get the springs fully released by getting the tires off the ground an inch or so. Be sure to use safety jacks so you don't lose a hand or fingers. I had to jack up each side separately. Follow the directions by cleaning and spraying the car springs and spray Sumo springs too with soapy water. Was a little tough getting them started, but once in place would spin easily to get into position between the 2nd and 3rd spring and also to rotate to install all the zip ties. I loaded my hitch with 300# on a cargo carrier. Without the sumo springs dropped 1 1/2". With Sumo springs only 1/2". The 300# simulated the tongue weight of a camping trailer I am renting next week. 1" difference may not seem like a lot, but I was pretty pleased that such a easy, low cost fix that will allow me to tow up to the 5000# capacity rating of my SUV. I didn't notice any difference in handling when driving without any weight. My cargo carrier also has a 500# capacity so I'm good for traveling towing a camper or with my cargo carrier. As always, eTrailer was great about fast shipping. Ordered on Tuesday and arrived on Wednesday. eTrailer is my go to place for anything auto related.

2017 Hyundai Santa Fe

They work GREAT on my Hyundai Santa Fe Limited. They help with the rear end sag when towing my trailer.

by:
2015 Toyota Highlander

The Sumo coil springs helpers did help with the rear spring sag and subsequent unweighting of the front end when my 2015 Toyota Highlander is hooked to our 20 ft 3,000 lb Winnebago Micro Minnie trailer. The steering felt better after installing the Sumos, but I had hoped for a bit more support from them, however the situation is definitely better with them than without them.

Comments
Satisfactory, it helps mitigate rear end squat

It helped a little. Easy to install, didn’t even have to take the wheels off. Really no other option for a Highlander that I know of to add capacity to basically a car rear suspension.

Simple install and it does appear to be preventing too much sag in the rear of our 2010 Highlander. Recommend!

by:
2014 Toyota Highlander

I have a set for my rear suspension on my 2014 Highlander. These were easy to install and I noticed an immediate difference with firmer rear suspension. Where these really stood out was towing my boat. These substantially reduced rear suspension sag and body roll around corners. I will likely get a set for my front suspension too. If ordering again, I would get front and rear at the same time. This is because I notice a difference in the firmness of rear vs front. This has been a good solution for towing on 3000lb boat on my highlander.

by:
2015 Toyota Highlander

2015 Highlander XLE AWD. It works for what I intended. The hitch raised 1 1/2" under load. The load was around 1000lbs in the vehicle and a 250lb cargo basket on the hitch. If you count the hitch and misc items in the vehicle, the load would was 1350lbs out of the 1445lb payload. Without the sumosprings, it easily bottomed out. It does not level like an air bag system, however it improves the ride dramatically under load and does not bottom out. Most of the negative reviews I read were people expecting their highlander to tow a travel trailer. Not a vehicle I would choose for the job. Even light travel trailers have high tongue weights. Add people, a weight distributing hitch, equiptment and your payload is gone. The ride does not change unloaded. Until a better product is available, I'll be sticking with this one. Installation was very simple.

by:

Not the easiest to install but effective. I don't haul heavy loads often so I install them only when needed. I wish there was an air bag set-up for this vehicle.

by:
2009 Mercury Grand Marquis

Installation went smoothly once I unhooked the shock absorber and allowed the spring to decompress. It looks like it lifted the back end about an inch with a couple hundred pounds of stuff in the trunk.

by:

For medium loads this product is noticeably helpful.

by:
2016 Toyota Highlander

Works great for what I needed. I had issues with the rear of the 2016 Highlander bottoming out when loaded (5 people, luggage and a hitch bike rack). After installing this, the ride has improved. I had 5 people, full interior cargo area, 21 cubic foot cargo box on top and a hitch cargo carrier. While I did get some sag in the rear, I did not have the harsh bottom outs that I was getting with a much less loaded vehicle before.

by:
2004 Honda Odyssey

Worked as advertised but were a little hard to install on my 2004 Honda Odyssey rear springs about 2hour start to finish

by:
2008 Ford Escape

Super easy installation onto the rear coils of my 2008 Ford Escape. Definitely use a soap solution to help slide the device onto the coils. No noticeable different to the ride when unloaded, but prevents sag when carrying my dirt bike (250 lbs) on a hitch-mounted carrier.

by:
2013 Toyota Highlander

These were extremely easy to install. No cutting, no mess. I did NOT have to remove my rear tires on my 2013 Highlander so that made it even easier. I will be pulling my trailer this weekend. The SUMO SPRINGS gave me an extra 2-inches of lift with hitch unloaded.

by:
2006 Honda Odyssey

E-Trailer as always shipped with in a couple of hours of receiving the order,Great job Guys. these were installed on a 2006 Honda Odyssey. We towed our Aliner folding camper 1100 miles after installing these. hitch weight is 230 to 240# they seem to take alot of the bounce out of the tow vehicle.Very easy to install. If you have a need to carry heavy loads I would go with Air Bags.

by:

I needed to increase my spring tension so that I could tow a small trailer. Since there are no "heavy duty" type shocks for a Honda Element, I went with these inserts. They slipped right in and were easily secured... more importantly, they worked! If you are pressed for time, or cash, I highly recommend these for spring boasting....

by:
2019 Toyota Highlander

This was amazingly easy to install. It took longer to jack up the car and remove the wheels than to install the helper spring.

Although the site says this product only fits to 2015 Highlander it installed perfectly on a 2017 Highlander. I checked and the replacement coil spring is the exact same up through 2019 so figured it would fit and it did.

by:
2016 Toyota Highlander

Purchased product for a 2016 Toyota Highlander that sags when pulling a trailer. Toyota doesn't have a solution for this. The Sumo springs did help the sag but made the ride less smooth. I'm still happy with them.

by:

Did increase the ride height to an acceptable level
Even with a few hundred pounds of tools in the rear just what I wanted to achieve!

by:
2002 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

One of the two SumoSprings did not have the holes for the zip ties drilled in it. I had to drill them myself! The only thing that they needed to do after these came out of the mold was drill them and they could"t even get that right, makes me wonder how they will last over time.

by:
2015 Toyota Highlander

Easy to install, it only took about 20min to them onto the rear springs of my 2015 Toyota Highlander. They helped level the vehicle somewhat and improved the stability when towing my popup tent trailer.

  • Comparison Between SuperSprings # CSS-1145 And # CSS-1145R
Part # CSS-1145 and part # CSS-1145R are identical helper springs. They are designed to fit the rear only for your 2013 Dodge Durango. Originally these were designed for both the front and back and the R indicated they were to be used on the rear only. These are inserted between the coils of each coil spring on your Durango and help to reduce body roll and help keep your Durango level. As more weight is added the stiffer they become.

  • Preventing Rear End Sag on a 2007 Toyota Prius
I know from experience that Toyota states not to tow with a Prius but you may want to check the owners manual to determine if carrying a bike rack is acceptable. Any trailer hitch for a Prius is going to be a Class I with 200 pounds tongue weight capacity. Also on a Class I you are limited to carrying a maximum of 2 bikes. Any more than that puts the bikes too far from the receiver which produces too much stress on the hitch, like using a cheater bar to loosen a lug nut. But to help with...

Installing Coil SumoSprings # CSS-1145R on your 2012 Toyota Highlander will not affect the rear axle alignment or the wheel camber. However, to install the springs you have to jack up the frame of the vehicle until the suspension is fully extended. While it isn't likely that doing so will have an impact on the alignment or camber that is the only part of the installation that could change the alignment. Wheel camber is basically a non-issue. • Suspension Enhancement Availability for a 2012 Toyota Highlander Using Weight Distribution
A properly setup weight distribution system should all but totally eliminate the rear end sag of a vehicle when towing. With those two things check out you should see the trailer setting as level as possible. • Suspension Enhancement for a 2007 Toyota Prius

These are going to work well to keep the rear of the vehicle level. Once you have them installed you will not have to mess with them again. Yes, you can use the Coil SumoSprings, # CSS-1145R, on your 2010 Honda Odyssey to safely reduce sag when towing a trailer. A weight distribution system would be the best option, but suspensions enhancement like the SumoSprings will work also. The Coil SumoSprings you mentioned, part # CSS-1145R will not change the ride height of your Grand Cherokee. They are meant to smooth the ride and help eliminate some sag caused by carrying heavy loads in the cargo area. In other words, the SumoSprings will not lift the vehicle, but will help resist against sag when the vehicle is under load. Various aftermarket lift kits are available in different heights. I would recommend doing a Google search on a lift kit for 2012 Grand Cherokee.
