Enhancing Factory Overload Springs
The lower factory overload springs on your truck are designed to help compensate for a large payload. When you are hauling a heavy load, your truck's standard leaf springs can't always counteract the weight of it. As a result, if you hit a bump when your suspension is fully loaded, the leaf springs will give and cause your truck to bottom out. The overload springs help keep this from happening by mounting beneath the leaf springs to provide points of contact for the stressed springs.
There is natural gap between your truck's standard leaf springs and its lower overload springs. This gap allows the upper leaf springs to flex a bit before making contact with the overload springs, but having this gap creates a situation where bounce (or jounce) often occurs. StableLoads are designed to fill the gap between your standard springs and your overload springs. This pre-activates the overload springs, ensuring that they are engaged from the start instead of engaging only when your leaf springs make contact, at which point you've probably already felt the jarring.
StableLoad Suspension Enhancement and Aftermarket Air Bags
By enhancing your lower overload springs in the way described above, you will notice less sway and body roll. This is due to the pre-loading effect of the StableLoads, which helps to better distribute the weight of your payload over the entirety of your factory suspension. This is the primary difference between StableLoads and many air bag overload systems.
With air bag suspension enhancement, the load in your truck is being taken on by the air bags. Air bags are designed to level your truck, and they operate as intended when they're under a normal load. But if you are hauling or towing a particularly heavy load, this type of suspension enhancement can create some problems. In order to get the correct amount of leveling and to ensure that your suspension won't bottom out, you will likely have to fill the air bags to a very high psi. Doing this effectively removes the load from your factory suspension. As a result, your truck's suspension is no longer able to operate as it was designed. This can lead to handling issues, such as porpoising, sway, or body roll.
If you currently have this problem with your air bag system, you can add StableLoads to your suspension and get the best out of both products. StableLoads are effective on their own, but they've also been tested with aftermarket air bag suspension systems. The two enhancements work particularly well together if you have a heavy payload. By installing StableLoads between your lower overload springs and your standard leaf springs, you are already adding support to your suspension to help prevent bottoming out, which air bags work to prevent as well. As a result, you won't have to fill the bags nearly as full, which means that they won't take as much of the load off of your factory suspension, thus allowing your suspension to function as designed - only better.
Quick Disconnect
These StableLoads can be quickly and easily engaged and disengaged. The quick-disconnect design allows you to pivot the wedge pack - the piece that sits between the springs - in and out of position with a standard ratchet and 3/8" extension (not included). As a result, you can get a stable load when you're weighted down and then return to your regular ride when you're done hauling.
Tested and Proven Winner
TorkLift's StableLoads were tested against vehicles with no suspension enhancement and vehicles with air bags that were inflated to 100 lbs; and the results are clear. By adding StableLoads to your suspension your vehicle will ride smoother, causing less wear and tear on your suspension and tires. The trucks that were tested were loaded with 2,800 lbs. The degree of movement was then recorded, using an inclinometer, when the trucks encountered the 3 most common types of handling problems: side-to-side sway, porpoising, and body roll.
Side-to-side sway is triggered when your vehicle encounters uneven ground, such as a pot hole, and the suspension gives way when it cannot counteract the weight of the heavy load being carried. This creates a side-to-side bouncing motion. As you can see in the graph above, air bags provide an advantage over no suspension upgrades. But the StableLoads offer dramatic improvement over both the standard suspension and the air bag suspension.
Porpoising is the rising and falling action your vehicle makes when driving over an object like a speed bump. Having too much bounce can make you feel like you're riding in the back of a school bus. As you can see in the graph, there is virtually no difference in porpoising between trucks with standard suspension systems and those with air bags. Only the StableLoad offers improvement for this type of problem.
Body roll occurs when your heavy load transfers unevenly as you navigate a turn, causing one side of your vehicle to lean dramatically. In some cases this can lead to your truck's tires coming off of the ground and it could even cause your vehicle to roll over if it is too top heavy. Again, according to the graph above, air bags offer no help with this problem. It is only with the StableLoads that stability improves.

2014 Ram 3500
My review is specific to the Stable Loads for my 2014 Ram 3500 SRW 4x4 Diesel Pickup truck. First, the package arrived a day ahead of the delivery schedule. Inventory of the kit showed it was complete and matched the list of contents included. The overall impression was that this is a very well made and manufactured system. The stainless steel option seems to be well worth the small added cost. The instructions from TorkLift are a little vague in places so here are a couple of pointers. First, I needed more spacer washers than were provided with the kit due to the thickness of the lower spring. I was short a total of 4 washers. It seems like this is a simple detail that others should have made TorkLift aware of. Surprisingly, I found no mention of this on-line or in videos. Another vague area is regarding the orientation of the bracket on the spring pack itself. on my truck, I needed to install the stable load to the inside - between the frame and the spring. I tried to install the rear stable load to the outside (tire side) but found that even with stock size tires, the clearance was too close for my comfort (less that 1 inch between the bracket and the tire sidewall. On my truck, there is a wiring harness along the bottom of the frame at the rear drivers side that had to be adjusted closer to the frame to provide clearance for the bracket. Otherwise, all 3 of the other mounting locations had adequate room for the inside mounting location. Also, for my truck, using two of the three wedges provided the right thickness for proper engagement. Another note is that for my Ram, I did not have to drill out the springs because the rubber pad is installed into a hole on the overload spring. The hole is slightly larger that the diameter of the mounting bolt. This did not seem to affect the installation but again, it seems a bushing of some sort would be a good addition to the kit. Installation time was a bit longer that what I have seen mentioned by others but still, a few hours and it was ready for a test drive.
With the stable loads engaged, the empty ride is a bit stiffer that stock but not objectionable. The real test will be with the 3000lb+ camper installed. That review will have to wait.
E Trailer was great to order from and had the best price I could find on-line. This is the 4th or 5th time I have ordered from E Trailer and have never been disappointed.

Here are some pics of my installed Torklift Stableloads after drilling through my springs on a 2020 F250. I had to loosen and shift my exhaust pipe to drill the hole in that spring. Applied pressure to my drill with a floor-jack and went with low RPM on the supplied drill bits. I am very happy with etrailer’s quick shipping and the Torklift Stableload product worked as advertised

Nite and Day difference for having our slide in camper loaded up. Even with air bags and a aftermarket sway bar, I felt I needed “something” more at the back of the vehicle. I didn’t want stiffer springs because my load doesn’t actually tax my stock springs. The load is just tall. Utilizing the overload springs with this TorkLift kit did the trick. Only thing I did different was add a rubber o-ring to the base of the head on the latch-pin to stop the rattling of said pin when on bumpy broken California roads.

2014 Dodge Ram Pickup
When I first got this rig(2014 RAM 3500 DRW carrying a Lance 992 4K pounds), it already had the upper stable loads and I still experienced porpoising, sag and sway. Then at the end of last season I notice we were listing to one side. It turns out the upper stable loads had disintegrated. I had to buy new ones because the lifetime warranty is non transferable. So While looking into that I saw the lower stable loads and decided to get those too.
After I first installed the stable loads(along with the new upper stable loads) I took the rig for a test drive and I could tell immediately there was improvement with handling as could my wife. But I was a little skeptical, thinking I was just being overly optimistic. So I decided to wait until I had a more thorough test before writing a review.
We've been boondocking in the Southwest for the last three weeks(geographic distancing) and have been driving on a lot of bumpy roads and a lot of washboard roads, interstate and state highways, you name it. I think I've hit all the road conditions that have caused us problems in the past.
Problems I used to have that I haven't had an issue with yet:
Porpoising --- This is very surprising and fantastic. We experienced porpoising at least once during every extended drive. I'm pretty shocked that I haven't had it happen in three weeks. I really hated porpoising.
Sag - People would flash their lights at me at night because the sag caused the front to tip up enough to make it appear as though my brights were on. This is not happening any more.
Sway - We used to experience a lot of sway and this has disappeared as well. Maybe if I drive like a maniac I'll get some sway, but I'm not going to risk it.
It's such a comfortable ride now and I'm genuinely surprised. It seems like a cheap and easy fix and I don't understand why truck manufacturers don't offer this for their vehicles.

Using this on an F350 w/ a Truck camper towing a 16 foot toy hauler. It's reduced the rear sag of the truck and provided better handling characteristics on the road. Good alternative to airbags.
The installation holes were made using the provided drill bits and a hydraulic jack to load the drill. Not too bad from a time stand point. Perhaps their provided drill jig may be easier or faster?
Some of the components had fit issues due to burrs that weren't cleaned up after machining. A quick hand deburr took care of that issue.
Overall a good product; despite the few minor fit issues. Installation instruction were clear as well.

Installed the torklift stable load suspension kit on my Ford F-150. Was very easy to do following the instructions included or directly from the website. Once installed solved all of my suspensions sway by lifting the load and putting more weight on the front wheels. Immediately corrected the steering problems and distributed the load evenly so the truck was level. They are also very easy to engage or disengage from the leaf springs. No more airbags, or air shocks for me.

Well overall I gave them a 4 rating. Great website complete with installation pictures and video. Shipping and messages regarding orders are always updated daily. The only negative are the tabs on the upper Stableloads tabs are machined wider than the factory bump stops requiring me to press them closer together so that they would pop into place. Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to again do feedback on this product.

After a year they are still doing what they are supposed to do and that is engage the upper overload springs sooner than the factory bump stops allowing the truck to maintain level. Hold up well even in salt and sanded roadways during northern tier winter travels.

I purchased these stable loads for my 2022 F350 when hauling my 2021 wolf creek truck camper. The wolf creek was weighing down the F350 by a few inches and the family and I were going cross country. I considered air bags but didn’t want the potential issues of failure. The stable loads are working great. We are a family of four and did an 18 day cross country trip with the camper and they performed very well! I may still end up with air bags but the stable loads made the trip much safer and added a much desired degree of stablility! The fact they engage the overload springs of the truck make these fantastic for side to side stability. Air bags are not a necessity now. This pic is from the last day with a bunch of Kentucky whiskey and beer and other souvenirs in the rig!

I received yesterday but need better packaging for the parts, I opened box and 100’s of screws, washers, bolts etc were loose. The ziploc baggie is not sufficient for all these parts. I will spend today trying to see if they are all there… there was plenty of gap in the shipping box for these to fall out. I’ll be surprised if they are all there. 2 star for packaging.
