Mud Flaps Questions and Answers

  • Preventing Exhaust from Melting Mudflaps of Rock Tamers # ERT00108
  • If you can install the Rock Tamers so that the flaps are not situated right in front of your exhaust pipe, they should work very well for you. However, if the flaps fall right in front of where your exhaust discharges, you will likely have the same problem. Using an exhaust tip to redirect the exhaust discharge downward would prevent future damage. The tip you need would depend on the diameter of your existing exhaust pipe. For 4 inch diameter tailpipe, you would use something like...

  • Exhaust Clearance When Using Rock Tamers Adjustable Mud Flap System # ERT00108
  • The Rock Tamers Adjustable Mud Flap System, part # ERT00108, offers height, width and angle adjustment to match a range of vehicles. Please note that there must be at least 1-inch of clearance between the back of the ball mount face and the trailer hitch receiver opening to fit the Rock Tamers mounting bracket assembly. (Please see the attached photo.) The mud flaps themselves measure 24 x 24 inches but their height can be reduced to maintain ground clearance by trimming along the pre-marked...

  • Heat Resistance of Enkay Rock Tamers Mud Flaps # ERT00108
  • The Rock Tamers Heavy-Duty Adjustable Mud Flap you referenced, part # ERT00108 is made from 3/8 inch thick rubber. They should certainly resist heat better than something made out of horse hair, but just about anything will eventually become damaged if it is close enough to the exhaust outlet. I would recommend using an exhaust tip that relocated the discharge downward or outward toward the side of the truck. We offer various exhaust tips that might work for you, click on the provided link. In...

  • Recommended Mud Flaps for 2013 Ford F150
  • Assuming your F150 has the factory add-on fender flares, I would recommend the # HL57591 rear and # HL56591 front mud flaps. Although the Husky Liners mud flaps require some drilling for installation (see linked videos), they are a bit heavier than the WeatherTech flaps and in my opinion would be slightly better suited for a rural environment. Husky liners also offers flaps for the front and rear wheels, while WeatherTech is offered for the rear only. If you are only needing flaps for...

  • Yes, the WeatherTech mud flaps # WT110026-120026 will fit your 2014 Ram 2500 crew cab 4x4 with factory add-on fender flares. Since you have side steps or running boards wheel to wheel, the mud flaps # WT110026-120026 will clear the running boards. If there is 2-inches between the edge of the wheel well and the step you will be just fine.
