All right today on this 2008 Nissan Titan we're going to install part number 90195. This is a Tekonsha T3 trailer brake controller. We'll also be using an adapter cord, part number 3050-P. This will connect to the factory tow package port underneath the dash. We'll start with this part first. First we need to locate the port underneath the dash.

2008 Nissan Titan Questions and Answers

  • How Do Trailer Lights Ground and Wire Up
  • If the second wire is white it most likely is a ground wire and would just need to be run to a clean, metal surface. However, in some situations the light will ground through the mounting bolts of the light assembly. So if the light assembly is a stop/turn and tail assembly and there are only two wires the assembly grounds through the mounting hardware and the two wires are for the stop/turn and tail light circuits. If the light assembly only has a single intensity bulb and there...

  • Availability of Nissan Towing Relays for Towing Circuits on 2008 Nissan Titan Pickup
  • The relays in the Hopkins 7-Way and 4-Way Connector, part # N40975, are the relays you will need to activate the towing circuits on your 2008 Nissan Titan. Hopkins doesn't sell the relays separately, but luckily enough Curt Manufacturing does. You can get the relays minus the trailer connector by ordering part # C57000.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2008 Nissan Titan Towing a Keystone Passport Trailer
  • Adding a larger transmission cooler to your 2008 Nissa Titan to help keep the fluid in the optimum temperature range while towing is a good idea. Ideally you want the transmission fluid to be between 160 and 200 degrees for the best operation and longest life from the transmission. With the gross weight at 5,300 pounds, the Derale Transmission Cooler, # D13503, that you have referenced would be a good choice. This cooler is a class II rated for up to 6,000 pounds gross trailer weight....

  • Compatibility of Ladder Rollers with TracRac Ladder Rack for Transporting 15-Foot Boat
  • The base weight of a Riverhawk B52 is 165-lbs so when equipped with a usual complement of gear let's say it comes in near 200-lbs. This weight can be carried by your combination of Trac Rac truck bed ladder rack and cab-mounted roof rack. For a bigger boat like this it is a good idea to split the load between the two systems. The three ladder rollers you referenced, parts # RR1500, # SR680 and # RR1375, are meant for a specific Rhino-Rack crossbars and they would not work on the Trac...

  • Does Access Roll-Up Tonneau Cover Allow Full Access to Utili-track System on a 2008 Nissan Titan
  • I spoke with my contact at the manufacturer. He stated that the Access Roll-Up Tonneau Cover, # 834532003341, will allow you full access to the Utili-track system in your 2008 Nissan Titan. This applies to the original Access covers, but not the low-profile or Laredo models. I have included a video review of the Access Original Roll Up Tonneau covers below.

  • Installing Voyager Brake Controller on 2008 Nissan Titan with Factory 5 Wire Brake Control Harness
  • Every now and then, a vehicle is made that has a brake controller wiring harness with 5 wires like on your 2008 Nissan Titan. All 5 wires are not necessary to allow the brake controller to function. On your truck, the red/green wire marked brk sig will attach to the brake controller red wire for the stop light. The black wire marked gnd is the ground and will attach to the brake controller white wire. The brown/white wire marked brk out will attach to the brake controller blue...

  • Compatibility of a Rear Suspension Enhancement System with an Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System
  • We typically do not recommend adding suspension enhancement when a weight distribution hitch is being used. A rear suspension enhancement system such as the Timbren springs and a weight distribution hitch reduce sag at the rear of a vehicle. In some situations, they can work against each other and hinder each others effectiveness. If the Equal-i-zer system is set up correctly, you should not need additional suspension enhancement. If you are still experiencing some sag, I would recommend...

  • Brake Controller Install Harness Recommendation for 2008 Nissan Titan
  • For your 2008 Nissan Titan we have brake controllers that will easily fit and use the install connector you have found under the dash of your truck. Best economical option we have is the Tekonsha Voyager part # 39510 which is proportional. This means that it senses the amount of braking power your tow vehicle is applying and applies a relative amount of braking power to your trailer brakes. The install harness you'd need then would be the part # 3050-P which is what plugs into the port...

  • Curt Hitch Recommendation for a 2008 Nissan Titan
  • The Curt Specialty Trailer Hitch # E-3S that you referenced is a universal hitch that could work on your 2008 Nissan Titan if you compare the measurements in the pic I attached to the step bumper of your vehicle. I believe I have a better option though, a custom fit hitch specifically designed for you vehicle would give you more capacity and I can guarantee will work. Check out the Curt Hitch # 13199. This hitch installs by attaching to the frame of your vehicle instead of the bumper...

  • Trailer Tail Lights Not Working on a Trailer Towed by a 2008 Nissan Titan
  • The two blue relays are used to activate the turn signals and the brown relay is for the 12 volt circuit. You would need to consult the vehicle owners manual to determine if there are additional relays, whether under the hood or in the in-cab panel, that control the other functions. Some Nissan vehicles do require an additional relay, obtained from the dealer, to make the trailer wiring harness fully functional. To determine if the issue is on the truck or trailer what you can do is...

  • Best Method for Attaching Tail Lights to Aftermarket Flat Bed on 2008 Nissan Titan
  • I do not have a source for a plug that would mate with the factory harness for your OEM tail lights. Your best bet will be to use a circuit tester like part # 3808 and test the wires in the rear harness to determine their function. The black wire on the replacement tail light will attach to the running light circuit, and the red wire attaches to the turn signal/brake light circuit. Using quick splices like part # 804C would be the simplest method of making your connections. If you go this...

  • Choosing Weight Distribution System for Use on 2008 Nissan Titan Towing 8K Trailer
  • Weight distribution (WD) systems and those that also include sway control are chosen for a specific trailer tongue weight (TW). It is important to choose a properly-rated system so that you get the benefits you want (better front wheel traction, steering and braking) without causing the handling of the trailer to suffer. To know this actual effective TW you need to measure the fully-loaded trailer just as it will be when you tow, and add to that TW the weight of anything in the truck...

  • Should a Tandem Axle Trailer with One Surge Brake Axle have Electric Brakes Added to Other Axle
  • I wouldn't recommend running a different style of trailer brakes on the second axle of your trailer. It would be very difficult to get the braking action of both axles to sync up and work well together since they will be on totally different systems. You would want to either add hydraulic assemblies to the second axle or electric to both axles. I attached a couple help articles that would walk you through the install of either setup.

  • Spare Tire Carrier for an 8 Inch Trailer Wheel

The 15 inch mentioned for the Fulton spare tire carrier # FSTC1000301 is in reference to the wheel size. To fit the Fulton spare tire carrier the wheel would have to be at least a 10 inch so your 8 inch will not fit. Carrier # DL22144 does list 8 inches tries/wheels as a fit so you may want to consider it as an option.

The most economical tow bar available that will fit XL base plates is the Roadmaster Tracker, # RM-020. However, this tow bar is rated for 5,000 pounds and your Titan can easily exceed this weight limit. I recommend going up to the next level, a 6,000 pound capacity tow bar, # RM-501. I have included some informational links on this tow bar for you to view. And,...

  • Tire size 275/60R20 is one of the stock tire sizes offered on your 2008 Nissan Titan. The other stock tire size is 265/70-18. Nissan does warn against using any tire chains on the Titan that has these larger 275/60R20 tires due to the inadequate clearance in the wheel wells. Use of chains on these tires could result in damage to the vehicle. On the Titan equipped with 265/70-18 tires S-Class chain use is permitted on the rear wheels only.

  • Hitch and Brake Controller Recommendation for a 2008 Nissan Titan

I attached an install video for you to check out as well. For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. You would most likely have to remove the above the bed rails that hold the 5th wheel hitch also. If you are new to 5th wheel towing, and the 2008 Nissan Titan has a 6-1/2 foot bed, I recommend going with Installation Kit # RP30035-405, and Pro Series Hitch, # PS30094. I would also recommend looking at part # 90185 that can also be used with wiring adapter # 3050-P.
