Best 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailer Wiring Options

Today on our 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee we'll be looking at our best trailer wiring options. All right, we have two wiring harnesses here today, both of these provide us with a four pole flat trailer connector. Right here we have the Tekonsha T1 Vehicle Wiring Harness, part number 118425. Now over here we have the Curt T Connector, part number C56009. The biggest difference that we found between our two wiring harnesses here besides the fact they come from different brands is our dust covers. Our dust cover on the Tekonsha is molded into the end of our four pole flat here, so you don't have to worry about it falling off. Whereas on our Curt here, it's a separate piece that slides over the end of your connector here, down the wire a little bit, and then folds back over. They both serve the same purpose though.

Husky Cargo Floor Liner Review - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is also available as tan as part number HL20613 and gray as part number HL20612. For our test fit, well go ahead and lay the liner in place and see how it fits. This cover liner is custom made for the vehicle. The shape, channels and the molding of the liner will help keep dirt and debris contained in the liner and not in your carpet. Some details about the cargo liner, it has a raised edge all the way around with a minimum of 1 inch in height and it also has cutouts if desired to use to factory tie-downs.

Be careful not to break the pushpin tabs on the forward edge of the tail light assembly. You need to locate the matching connector for the T1 harness, which will be the connector and socket at the top of the tail light assembly.

Now we have a total of six push pin fasteners that we'll need to remove. There's four along the lower bumper inaudible and two up directly behind the bumper. All right, with all six fasteners remove we can now go ahead and take our bolt and conical tooth washer with the teeth of the washer facing the hitch inside our hitch into position. As you can see, the hitch has weld nuts built into it so that as we feed the bolt through the hitch, through the bumper, then go back to the hitch where it will secure into the weld nut.

2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Questions and Answers

  • Recommended Weight Distribution System With Highly Effective Sway Control Capabilities
  • A weight distribution system isn't a one size fits all proposition. W/D systems are available with spring bars of various capacities, you'll want to choose the system based on the fully loaded tongue weight of your trailer. To choose a weight distribution system, you'll need to first determine the fully loaded and ready to tow tongue weight of your trailer. To that figure, add the weight of any gear stowed in the cargo area your Grand Cherokee behind the rear axle. I've linked to an...

  • Does a Trailer Wheel Center Hole and a Hub Bore have to Match
  • The expert answer you have referenced is correct. A wheel that secures to the hub using bolts instead of lug nuts actually centers on the hub so the pilot hole of the wheel has to be exact. If it is too large the wheel can easily be off center and lead to all sorts of problems. Hub # 8-91-05UC1 has a center bore outer diameter of approximately 2.4375 inches; very close to 2.5 inches but not quite. If you use this hub and the wheels you are using have a pilot hole that is larger, it will...

  • How to Determine if a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a Factory Tow Package
  • The most definite way to determine if you have a tow package or not is to contact a Jeep dealership and give them your VIN number. They will be able to tell by looking at your VIN number whether or not you have the tow package. If you have a factory installed trailer hitch with either a 4-way trailer connector or a 7-way connector then you have the towing package also. The connector should be under the rear bumper on the driver side. If you find that you do not have the towing package...

  • Changing a US Style 7-Way Vehicle Connector to a European Style 7-Way Connector
  • The European 7-Way does the same thing that the US 4-Way does. There isn't an adapter available because the European 7-Way has separate circuits for nearly every function on each side of the trailer. The US style 4 or 7-Way has combined brake lights and turn signals. What you will have to do is change over the US style 7-Way to a European one. You will need 1 European style vehicle side 7-Way and one special converter that separates the combined signals to separate ones. You will...

  • Brake Controller Wiring on a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
  • If your Grand Cherokee tow package included a 7-Way trailer connector at the rear bumper, all you will need is a brake controller to complete the setup. Brake controllers are universal, so any brake controller will work, including the Tekonsha Prodigy, part # 90185. The brake controller will have four wires: Red, Black, Blue and White. As usual, White is ground and should be connected to any suitable ground point. Red is the stop light wire. This tells the brake controller when you are...

  • Weight Distribution For 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
  • A weight distribution system is not a vehicle specific item. As long as the hitch included with the tow package on your Grand Cherokee is compatible with weight distribution, and Jeep makes no prohibitions about using weight distribution, you can certainly use the properly rated system. In order to recommend the correct system for you, I will need to know the fully loaded and ready to tow tongue weight of your trailer, plus the weight of anything stowed in the cargo area behind the rear...
