CIPA Clamp on Universal Fit Towing Mirror Installation - 2001 Ford Ranger

Today on our 2001 Ford Ranger, we'll be doing a test fit on the CIPA Universal Bar Clip-on Towing Mirror, Part Number CM11980. It offers us a wide field of view. It's going to allow us to safely and easily change lanes, pass, park, or even back up while towing a trailer. The mirror can be rotated 360 degrees and can be adjusted to any angle. By simply loosening up the nut up top here, we can extend the mirror out to further suit our towing needs. Once we've got it set, just tighten him back down. It's not going to interfere with the operation of our factory mirror, and we can even still rotate it in.

K Source Universal Clip-On Towing Mirror Installation - 2001 Ford Ranger

Today on our 2001 Ford Ranger, we'll be doing a test fit on the K-Source Clip On Towing Mirror. Part number KS3891. This is what your K-Source Clip On Towing Mirror looks like when it's installed. It offers us a wide field of view, it's going to allow us to safely and easily change lanes, pass, park or even back up while towing a trailer. The mirror itself can be adjusted to any angle. By simply removing the screw at the back, we can adjust it to the vertical position. It's not going to interfere with the operation of our factory mirror and we can even still fold it in. I'm here at the passenger side of my Ford Ranger and to begin our test fit let's go ahead and turn our towing mirror over and we're going to make sure that each one of our tabs here is opened up that way our housing can easily fit between there.

Rain-X Weatherbeater Wiper Blades Installation - 2001 Ford Ranger

Today on our 2001 Ford Ranger, we're going to be installing the Rain-X Weatherbeater Windshield Wiper Blades in an 18-inch long design part number RX30218. Now these wiper blades are designed for both the driver and the passenger side as this vehicle requires an 18-inch-long wiper blade. These replacement wiper blades provide ultimate visibility in wet weather. They'll each meet or exceed the OEM standards of your vehicle. The wiper itself is made of a long-lasting, all-natural rubber edge, which resists cracking, splitting, and tearing. It also has an integrated UV inhibitor built in to help protect the squeegee from damaging effects of the harsh sunlight. You'll simply take the wiper arm and raise it off the windshield. You'll then squeeze in the locking tab with the locking tab squeezed in, you'll gently pull down and remove the old wiper blade. As you can see here, these wiper arms have a J-hook design, so you'll take your new wiper blade, slide it over the J-hook, and push up until you hear it click or lock into position. Once you have the new wiper blade installed, simply set it gently down onto the windshield. We can then go ahead and repeat the same process over on the other side. That'll do it for our quick look as well as our installation of the Rain-X Weatherbeater Windshield Wiper Blades in an 18-inch-long design, part number RX30218 as installed here on our 2001 Ford Ranger.

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2001 Ford Ranger

Today on our 2001 Ford Ranger, we're going to install part number 39510. This is the Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller. To help us with our install, we'll be using 2 other part numbers. We'll also be using part number ETBC7, the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controllers, and also a bracket to mount our 7-Pole Connector. This will be part number 18136. We'll start off with that part number.

Thule Gate Mate Tailgate Pad and Bike Rack for Compact Trucks Review

Today we're going to review the Thule gate mate pad and bike carrier for compact trucks, part number TH823. This is the 54 inch model designed to be used with compact and mini trucks. The gate mate is an inexpensive way to transport a lot of bikes where you can load and unload quickly. The gate mate is padded all the way around to not only protect your truck, but also protect the bikes that you're carrying. There are two blocks at the top to act as stops to keep your bikes from sliding too far to the lt or to the right. There's a strap that's stitched in to the top of our gate mate that we can use as an anchor point when we're ready to secure our bikes after we load them up.

Thule Gate Mate Tailgate Pad and Bike Rack for Compact Trucks Installation

Today were going to go over the installation of the Thule Gate Mate Tailgate Pad and Bike Carrier, part number TH823. This is the 54-inch wide pad designed for compact and mini trucks. Well be installing it today on a 2001 Ford Ranger but the installation process would be very similar for any truck of this size. The first thing we need to do is clean the tailgate. We want to make sure that any dirt and debris is off the tailgate so that the pad doesnt rub it into the paint. With the tailgate cleaned well take our pad, open it up and lay it over the tailgate.

MagnaFlow Exhaust Installation - 2001 Ford Ranger

Today on this 2001 Ford Ranger we are going to install part number MF15679 from MagnaFlow. The first thing we are going to do to get ready is go ahead and move the spare tire. You do not have to do that but it makes things a lot easier to get to and see. The next thing we are going to do is spray down the bolts going towards the catalytic converter. Let it sit for awhile and we will go ahead and loosen them up. And also, you will notice, this is not the original factory connection going to the catalytic converter too. This is actually another aftermarket exhaust. We will leave that set for now. Now we will go back to the rest of the exhaust and remove all of the rubber hangers. Just spray them down with some lubricant also and pull them apart. Alright, we will just push it to one side and pull it out. And then we will pull out the other side. You should be able to pull it all out as one piece. 0:56

Review and Installation of Timbren Vehicle Suspension Enhancement System

Today on the 2001 Ford Ranger we are going to install part number TFRR0504A from Timbren. Before we started we actually did a few test runs. We did it fully loaded, halfway loaded, and empty. Now we will go ahead and install the Timbren kit and then we will go ahead and try it again.

  • Location of Transmission Lines on a 2001 Ford Ranger For addition of a Transmission Cooler
  • One of my co-workers here happens to have a 2001 Ford Ranger with 4.0 Liter engine and automatic transmission, so I went out and checked under the hood. The transmission lines are located at the drivers side radiator tank, see photo, and run down, then across to the passengers side before turning back and running to the transmission. You should check your vehicle because different vehicle accessories or packages and the engine size and drive train may affect the location of the transmission...

  • Front Mount Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2001 Ford Ranger for a Snow Plow
  • For the 2001 Ford Ranger we have 2 options for front mount trailer hitches. Between the Draw-Tite, # 65024, that you have referenced, and the Curt, # C31063, I recommend the Draw-Tite for a few reasons. First, the Draw-Tite hitch has a higher vertical line pull capacity (500 pounds) than the Curt hitch (350 pounds). Both hitches are rated for 9,000 pounds straight line pull but remember to check the vehicle owners manual and stay within the limits of the truck. The Draw-Tite hitch...

  • Spare Tire Bracket Relocation for Curt Class II Recevier on 2001 Ford Ranger
  • According to Curt Manufacturing, installing the Class II Receiver Hitch, part # 12012 will NOT require relocation of the spare tire bracket. Although not expressly mentioned in the instructions, temporarily lowering the spare tire can make the install a bit easier by providing easier access to the rear frame members that the hitch is attached to. Might I make a suggestion? The Curt Class III Receiver, part # 13138 is actually a bit less expensive, has a higher tow and tongue weight rating...

  • Grille Guard, Front Mount Hitch and Winch Plate for 2001 Ford Ranger
  • The best solution I could provide for you would be the Westin Grille Guard # 33-2365 as it is a grille guard and a skid plate. However, this guard and all of the other ones confirmed to fit your vehicle do not have winch plates on them. If the winch mount is the priority you could go with a front hitch instead like part # 65024 and then use a winch plate like part # C31010. I also attached a link to the right that has all of the bumpers we carry for your 2001 Ford Ranger.

  • My contact at Hidden Hitch says that the trailer hitch # 70181 will fit on your 2001 Ford Ranger with the Edge package. He stated that they have not heard of any fit issues with your model truck. It will probably be easier to install the hitch by temporarily removing the spare tire, just so you have more room to work. But once the tire is back into place it will be a fairly snug fit without much room to spare. I have included a link to the installation details for this trailer hitch...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2001 Ford Ranger
  • A hitch from a 2011 Jeep Liberty would not fit a 2001 Ford Ranger. For the Ranger you would need a hitch custom fit for that vehicle. For that I would recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Class III # 75082. For trailer wiring you would want the # 118344. For ball mounts I recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and a carrying bag.

  • Only Right Turn Signal Works on Tow Package Wiring on a 2001 Ford Ranger
  • If the wiring harness on your 2001 Ford Ranger is a factory installed harness then there is likely fuses or even relays related to it. The best way to find them is to consult the owners manual for the truck. None of the aftermarket harnesses for the truck have fuses. It could still be a ground issue on the truck. • Parts Needed To Flat-Tow 2001 Ford Ranger
  • In order to safely flat-tow your 2001 Ford Ranger you will need 5 items. If your Ranger is an Edge with the tow hook, I recommend part # 477-1. These base plates have drawbars that can be removed when not towing making the remaining hardware almost invisible. If your Ranger is an XL or XLT, then the base plates I recommend is part # 483-1....

  • Lights Dim When Applying Brakes or Using Turn Signal While Towing Trailer with 2001 Ford Ranger
  • There could be a couple of reasons for the lights dimming when the trailer is hooked up to the 2001 Ford Ranger. If the issues are truly caused by a lack of power coming from the Ford Ranger, installing an aftermarket powered wiring harness like the Tekonsha Upgraded Heavy Duty ModuLite Wiring Harness # 119190KIT may remedy this.
