2003 Kia Questions and Answers

  • Wiring A Trailer So That Turn Signal And Brake Signal Are Separated
  • You will want to find lights that match the lights you currently have on your trailer. If you have incandescent lights I recommend either staying with incandescent or swapping out all of the lights to LEDs. LED lights draw much less power, so you may want to go that route. I have attached a helpful article that explains how the trailer wiring is run. In order to separate the brake signal from the you will need part # 118158. This will take the signal from the vehicle that has the turn...

  • What is the Distance Between the Bolt Holes of the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13340
  • I went out into our warehouse and measured a Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13340 and found the distance from the bolt hole center to bolt hole center was 36-1/2 inches. Check out the picture I attached to see this measurement. If you measured from the inside of the bolt hole to the inside of the other bolt hole and came up with 36 inches you should still be fine since the bolt holes are slotted for extra flexibility when installing this hitch. Sometimes hitches can get slightly bent...

  • Will the Curt T-Connector Wiring Harness have the Correct Connectors for a 2003 Kia Sedona
  • I went out to the warehouse and pulled the T-One Wiring Harness, # 118309, for the 2003 Kia Sedona and produced a short video showing the connectors for you, see link. The passenger side connector is not larger than the drives side connector and should be exactly the same. You will need to go directly to the back of each taillight housing to locate the correct connectors on both sides of the vehicle. The CURT T-Connector Wiring Harness, # C55309, will come with the same mating connectors...

  • How to Find Correct Ball Mount for 2003 Kia Sedona
  • In order to choose the correct ball mount for your 2003 Kia Sedona and your trailer there are a couple measurements you'll need to take. First, make sure both your vehicle and trailer are parked on level ground; you'll then want to measure from the ground to the top of the inside of your hitch receiver. Next, measure from the ground to the bottom of your trailer's coupler and find the difference between the two measurements. If the height of your hitch is greater, you will need a ball...

  • Does Trailer Taillight Converter # 118307 Need Direct Power from Battery
  • The extra wire you refer to is almost certainly a power wire that provided a direct power feed from the battery to the original converter. The Tow Ready # 118307 which would be a fit for your 2003 Sorento, doesn't need an extra power wire. It will draw the necessary power through the taillight circuits and as long as your trailer has pretty minimal lighting (such as what would typically be found on a small utility or enclosed trailer), the fact that there's no independent power wire shouldn't...

  • Parts Needed to Install a 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 2003 Kia Sedona
  • After you have installed a 4-Way flat trailer wiring harness on your 2003 Kia Sedona, such as # 118309 or # C55309 you have some options on adding a 7-Way. If you need only the lights on the trailer to work then you would just need # 37185. The 4-Way plugs into it and you would ground the white wire to the vehicle frame. the other wires can be taped up and stowed out of the way. But if the trailer has electric brakes or needs the 12 volt accessory circuit to be functions I recommend...

  • How to Find Cold Side of Stop Light Switch
  • If you are installing a brake controller such as the Prodigy P3 # 90195 and need to find the cold side of the stop light switch - the brake wire - you need to use a circuit tester such as # 3808 and find the wire that has power only when you press the brake pedal as that is the only reliable way to do so. Keep in mind you will also need to add a 4-way connector that fits your 2003 Kia Sorento such as # 118307 as well as Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7....

  • Replacement Trailer Tire Recommendation for Size 20.5x8.0-10 Load Range D
  • I recommend swapping out the lower capacity tire with a replacement that has the same PSI rating as the 70 psi tire. For that we have the part # AM1HP54 which is a Load Range D and has a weight capacity of 1,330 lbs at 70 psi.

  • Cargo Liner Recommendations for the 2003 Kia Sorento
  • I did some research and found that we have cargo liners made specifically for your vehicle. The WeatherTech Cargo Liners and the Covercraft Premier Custom Cargo Area Mats are both compatible cargo liners for your vehicle and I have included links to both products, providing a multiple array of colors for each brand.
