Best 2006 Volkswagen Jetta Hitch Options

Today on our 2006 Volkswagen Jetta we'll be looking at our best hitch options. On the top we have a CURT class one, part number C11072. On the bottom we have a Draw-Tite class one, part number 24866. Now the main difference between our two hitches here today is the construction. Our CURT hitch has a round tubular construction, which is more aesthetically pleasing in my mind, whereas our Draw-Tite is a rectangular construction. Then there's our safety chain attachment points.

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta - Curt

Today on our 2006 Volkswagen Jetta, we will be installing theCurt Hitch, part number C11072. This is what our hitch should look like once installed. Next we will go ahead and give you a couple of measurements to assist you in selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of the bumper is 6-3/8". From the top of the receiver tube to the ground is 10-1/4". This will assist you in selecting accessories such as a ball mount, bike rack, or cargo carrier. Now we'll go ahead with installation. To begin our install, we will first need to raise the vehicle up and remove the underbody panel on the passenger side.

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2006 Volkwagen Jetta

Today on our 2006 Volkswagen Jetta we'll be installing the T1 vehicle wiring harness with four pole flat connector, part number 118531. To begin our install we'll first open up the rear trunk. Then we'll remove the spare tire cover and next the rear threshold. To remove the threshold we'll need to remove the two plastic cap nuts. Then we'll gently pull out and up on the threshold releasing the fasteners underneath and we'll sit it aside for re-installation later. Next, we'll need to gain access behind the tail light assembly to the manufacturers wiring.

Whispbar Through Bar Roof Rack Installation - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

Today on this 2006 Volkswagen Jetta, we're going to be test fitting a Whispbar roof rack system from Yakima. We'll be using a set of through bars, part number WB-S6, as well as the fit kit for our Jetta, part number WB-K408. We've already got our crossbars assembled according to the instructions, so now we're ready to fit them up onto our vehicle. The first thing we need to do is open the driver and passenger side front doors. In this particular application, there are mounting holes fitted into the frame of our door. So we're going to locate these, as the pin on our clips will fit into these.

Whispbar Flush Bar Roof Rack Installation - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
