  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 1976 Ford F-Series Truck with 4 Wheel Drive
  • A high boy is a generic term used to encompass all Ford F-250 4x4 trucks from the late 1960s to the late 1970s (circa 1967 to 1977 and a half). If your 1976 is an F-250 with 4 wheel drive, it falls under the high boy umbrella. F-100 and F-150 models are not considered high boys even though 4 wheel drive was an option for some. The high boy trucks came with a different transfer case (what is called a divorced transfer case), the front cross member set up was different, and they sat higher...

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch and Installation Kit for 1976 Ford F250 Long Bed
  • Let's start with the hitch itself. If you have a long bed truck, the Pro Series, part # PS30119, would be an excellent choice, with its 20K capacity. For a short bed truck, you'll want to use the sliding version of the hitch, part # PS30121. To install either hitch, you'd use the Reese # RP30035 Universal Fifth Wheel Hitch Install Kit. If you click the provided link, you can see the installation instructions. To install a 7-way connector in the truck bed, use part # 20023.

  • Comparing etrailer Electric Trailer Brake Assemblies to Dexter Brakes
  • There is a difference. The etrailer brakes specifically, such as # AKEBRK-7-SA, have pad material that is cut rather than snapped off a long strip. The result is a cleaner cut pad that is less likely to crack or have pieces fall off of it. Otherwise they are pretty much identical. So really the etrailer brakes are a much better value. I have included a link to a video on brake set # AKEBRK-7-SA for you.

  • Hitch Recommendation for a 1976 Ford F150 with a Deep Drop Bumper
  • A roll pan bumper is a bumper that basically makes the rear bumper look as if it does not stick out further than the rest of the truck and that is molded into the rear of the truck. Its basically a cosmetic modification that you see on a lot of lowered and/or show trucks. What you have is definitely a deep drop bumper. Check out the FAQ article I attached on bumper types for you to check out. With that being said, you will need a hitch designed for trucks with deep drop bumpers like...
