Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com and today we're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster automatic battery disconnect on our 2016 GMC Sierra 1500.Now whenever you want to tow your GMC, if you look in your owners manual it is going to say it's required that you remove the battery or you disconnect it. Now I don't know about you, but I personally don't want to have to open the hood every time that I want to tow my Sierra. Get my tools out, disconnect the battery and then isolate the cables so I don't have to worry about arcing on something. Get to where I'm going, then I'm going to have to get back underneath the hood with my tools, re hookup my battery so I can drive my truck. Well our automatic battery disconnect is going to be just that. It's going to be an automatic disconnection, so we're not going to have to do all those steps. more

Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect Installation - 2019 GMC Canyon

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com and today you're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster automatic battery disconnect on our 2019 GMC Canyon. Now if you want to flat tow your GMC Canyon, they're going to be five components that you need for a full safe flat tow setup. The first one is going to be our base plate and that's going to mount directly to our frame so we have a solid connection point so we can hook up our tow bar. Now the tow bar's going to be the second component that hooks to your base plate and connects your Canyon to your motor home. Then we're going to have safety cables. And our safety cables are going to be a secondary safety device in case anything we're to happen to the tow bar, just like a trailer making sure that our Canyon doesn't go down the road. Then we're going to have our electrical connector, so we can have all the correct signals in the back. whether we're changing lanes or stopping. more

Roadmaster Flexo-Coil Kit Installation - 2019 GMC Canyon

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com and today you're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil wiring kit. Now, our Flexo-Coil wiring kit is going to allow us to hook our motor home to our Canyons, so when we're flat towing it, the towed vehicle wiring has a connection point and it sends those signals. But for a full flat tow setup, you are going to need a base plate. Base plate's going to attach directly to the frame of your Canyon so you have a nice solid connection point for the tow bar. Now the tow bars are going to be the second component and that's going to attach to the base plate as well as your motor home so we can actually pull it down the road. Then we're going to have our safety cables, which is going to be a secondary safety device in case something we're to happen to the tow bar.Just like a trailer, this will prevent our Canyon from rolling down the road. Then we're going to have a braking system, which is going to allow the Canyon to slow itself down and stop itself, rather than fully relying on the motor home, putting all that extra strain and stress on the brakes because of the added weight. more

B and W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Installation - 2019 GMC Sierra 3500

Hi there, Sierra owners. Today on your 2019 GMC Sierra 3500, we're going to be installing the B&W's Turnover Ball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch. To help us complete this installation, we'll be using B&W's Turnover Ball Gooseneck Custom Installation Kit for Chevy and GMC. This gooseneck hitch is going to be hidden underneath the bed of your truck. The underbed rail design keeps most of the components under the bed, this way you can maximize the amount of space in the bed of your truck when you don't want to haul a gooseneck trailer, but when you're ready you can simply throw your ball in and you're ready to go. To ensure you don't lose your ball, when not in use it stores flush by simply flipping it over and dropping it back down, and now it's almost as if you don't have a gooseneck trailer installed. more

The gas struts are gonna provide enough tension to keep our screen taut, but also allow enough for movement while we're going down the road. Now I do want to mention that in our application we do have a rear exiting exhaust so you don't want to idle the motor home too long with the Tow Defender in place because it can cause some warping and damage to the material. The construction of our Tow Defender, all the brackets are gonna be made out of steel with a black powder coat finish to prevent any kind of rust or corrosion on them. Now when we're not using our Tow Defender we can remove the pin and clip from each side, we can take the Tow Defender out of the bracket, and then simply roll it up to where we can store it on the back of our motor home. Then they do provide us with some straps that we can wrap around the Tow Defender and in a nice, neat package to where we can just leave it right here whenever we're ready to tow.Our Tow Defender's gonna work with all Blue Ox and Demco tow bars with the appropriate brackets as well as all Roadmaster motor home mounted tow bars. more

Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2017 GMC Acadia

Today on our 2017 GMC Acadia we're gonna take a look at and show you how install the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles. Part number is RM-156-25.Now, our charge line kit takes care of the problem where when we tow our vehicle the battery drains down. Typically you'll have to leave the key on in a vehicle requiring a charge line kit, so some of the functions stay running. What this provides us is a 15 Amp charge going to our battery; it's gonna get it from the connector plug on the front of our vehicle hear, just run the provided wire up to our breaker, and then once it goes through our breaker we'll just run that onto the battery post. It's gonna give us a constant charge. The breaker is designed to prevent this from overloading, so if we're working this too much, or if we've got some kind of a major draw going on, at a point the filament inside's gonna come up to where it's not making contact. So that allows everything to cool off a little bit, and as it cools it's gonna come back down, make contact, and again continue charging the battery for us. more

To start, weve already raised the vehicle up and were getting underneath of it. To give us some little working room, were going to go ahead and remove the rock guard for the total of five attachment points here for our rock guard. Next, well need to locate the vehicle transmission lines. These two lines here run from the radiator cooler to the transmission. more

Firestone Level Command II Installation - 2011 GMC Sierra

Today on this 2011 GMC 3500, we're going to install the Firestone Air Accessory Kit, part number F2219. Our first step is going to be mounting the gauges for our accessory kit. The customer has chosen to mount the gauges in the glove box. First, what I did is made a custom bracket so they will seat deep enough in the glove box and still be able to close the door. What I need to do is go ahead and open the door all the way, releasing the safety latch here. I'll be using my gauges as a template to draw out so we can cut out the back of the glove box to create a depth that we need to mount our gauges. more

Today on this 2008 GMC Sierra 2500 HD we will be installing Curt fifth wheel Q5 with roller part number 50064 and part number 16500. We will also be installing the fifth wheel installation kit with rails part number 50061-6008. Go ahead and lower the spare tire up out of the way. Also on some models you will find that the heat shield over here on the passenger side will interfere with the installation of your frame brackets. If that is the case you may want to go ahead and remove the heat shield out of the way as well. Okay on the models that have the factory installed electrical brake control unit will need to relocate the electrical plug mounted to the inboard side of the driver side frame rail here. Loosen those up and you can see that we can actually take the heads of the bolts, slide the bracket forward, and pop them out those larger holes there. 00:59 more

Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 GMC Sierra- Video

Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 GMC Sierra

Today we are going to be installing Hide-a-Goose part number 9465-4434 on a 2006 GMC Sierra 2500. The first thing we want to do is to go ahead and lower the spare tire. That will give us a lot more room to install the gooseneck system. The second step is to go ahead and cut out a section of the heat shield, which is basically forward of the axle in between the two hat channels, which is basically parallel to the gas tank as well. We need to go ahead and cut that section out to allow us to get the crossmembers into place. OK, with that section of the heat shield removed, we want to next go inside the bed. And we are going to go ahead and mark and then drill our hole for the opening in the Hide-a-Goose system. You want to check with your directions to verify the appropriate dimension that you are going to be drilling from. On this particular short-bed model, we are going to go ahead and mark from the end of the bed at 44-1/2 inches, and then we just want to center that in between the two wheel wells, which will land us right in the center of this rib here. And with my dimensions marked out, I am just going to go ahead and center punch that location, and then we are going to go ahead and drill out our 3-1/2 inch hole. more

And there is a steel component that is going all the way across. We will go ahead and mount to that. What we will do is actually take the bracket, find a position we like, and go ahead and clamp it into place. All right, we are going to use some self-tapping screws instead of the screws that came with the kit it is a little bit easier to drill into the metal. The screws that come with it are actually designed for plastic. more

Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Installation - 2005 GMC Sierra

Today we are going to install part number 9465 our gooseneck head assembly. We will also be installing a rail kit which is part number 4434 for our 2005 GMC Sierra pickup 3500. The first step involved would be to make room for the install kit and rails. What happens is this heat shield needs to be removed. We are going to take it out from this section to this beam here. To make it easier maybe go all the way this far back. But for necessity purposes we need from here to here for the rails. We cut out our heat shield and left an inch or so hanging off. We took a rubber mallet and beat it back and keep it away from the sharp edges as much as possible. Our next step will be to loosen the bed so we can slide the rails underneath the truck. There are 2 options on how you will do this part. more
