So for our diode wiring, we are gonna need a six-pole socket. So that way, we can transfer that signal over from our motor home back to the towed vehicle. And depending on which kit you go with, you might not have all of the things that you're gonna need. Now, this is a second vehicle that our neighbor's gonna be towing, so he already has the seven-wire to six-wire cable. more

Roadmaster Universal Diode Wiring Kit Step-By-Step Installation - 2025 Ram 1500- Video
Hey there, neighbors, Kevin here with etrailer. And today I'm gonna be showing you how to install the Roadmaster high-powered diode wiring kit here on our 2025 Ram 1500. If you're planning on flat towing, like our neighbor is with his Ram, then having some sort of diode kit to transfer your light signals from your motorhome back to the towed vehicle is going to be an essential component. And not only just for your safety, but legally, you're gonna need to have those lights flashing in accordance with your motorhome so that everyone else around you knows exactly what your intentions are and so that everyone can get home safe or to your campsite safely. Now there are a variety of options when it comes to these diode kits since our neighbor is already a flat tower and he's got a other vehicle that he had in umbilical cord, so that's seven-wire to six-wire cable that goes between the six-pole socket on the towed vehicle over to the motorhome, he didn't need every single part of this kit. So we went with the smaller kit where it's just gonna be the diode wiring, so that four-pole wire, and then also those diodes. more

Setting Up Your Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit - 2025 Ram 1500- Video
Hey there neighbors. Kevin here with Etrailer, and today I'm gonna be showing you how to install the Roadmaster battery charge line kit for towed vehicles here on our 2025 Ram 1500. So when it comes to flat towing, not every single car is going to have a battery that's gonna be discharging the whole time that you're flat towing. But if you have a supplemental braking system or any other kind of add-on that you're gonna be installing while flat towing, that is gonna drain from the battery directly. So it's very important to install a charge line kit so that way once you get to your destination, you don't have to worry about now jumping the battery and recharging it and all this downtime that you have to deal with just to get your battery charged up enough so that you can start your car and then get to where you need to with your vehicle. So having this do all the work for you, 'cause once it's installed, you don't have to do anything else. more

Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit DIY Installation - 2025 Ram 1500- Video
Hey, neighbors, Kevin here with etrailer. And today we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster direct-connect base plate kit here on our 2025 Ram 1500. So when it comes to flat towing, there's gonna be five main components that you're gonna need to do so. And the first one's gonna be your tow bar and the second one will be your base plate. And those two components are gonna make up our physical connection between our motorhome and then our towed vehicle. Along with that, we'll also need some safety cables so that if there ever was an issue with our tow bar or base plate, we had a breakaway situation, then we have another set of cables that are gonna pull on this and prevent our vehicle from just taking off by itself down the road. more

Brake Buddy Systems Dash Mount Connector Installation Guide - 2025 Ram 1500- Video

So if you've already been flat towing with a Brake Buddy supplemental braking system and you're moving on to your next vehicle or maybe you're just adding on a second option like our neighborhood is today, you're gonna need another harness so that you can provide power to that braking system. And that's what we installed today on our Ram. And then honestly, there was a ton of room and it was very easy 'cause there's a grommet right under the dash that comes out right below here, right by our battery. Hello, neighbor, this is Curt with etrailer. And today we're gonna take a look at the installation of a Lomax hard tonneau cover on our 2015 Ram 1500. Now the reason why you might need a hard tonneau cover is that a soft tonneau cover can be a little bit susceptible to security issues. If somebody really wants to get in there, they could always slash it open and get outta there whatever they need. A hard tonneau cover is gonna offer more security and protection for your cargo in your truck bed. Now, I had mentioned that this is a 2015, so this truck has seen some wear, and the owner of this truck does use it as a truck, which makes it no surprise to me at all that they chose a hard tonneau cover. more

So if you're like our neighbor and you already have air springs installed, or you're getting them installed, now it is a great time to upgrade your system and add on a compressor. Now our neighbor today works in the construction industry, so he is hauling a lot of different loads around as he goes from job site to job site, and there's not always electric there for you to plug in a standard compressor. So having the ability to run that off of your vehicle's battery and adjust your PSI level to exactly what you need is going to be a game changer. Since our neighbor deals in the construction industry and he's doing a lot of decks, patio steps, and porch railing, we know he's hauling a lot of lumber, especially since he's also got a truck bed extender. So we know he is putting a lot of stuff back here. He's gonna be having a ton of weight when he's going to the job site. But when he is done with that, and everything's unloaded, and he's heading back home, he's not gonna have as much weight in here. If you have a Ram and it has the factory tow package installed and you don't already have a brake controller, the REDARC is a really nice setup to look at. What it does is it's gonna hide the main box, so you don't see that at all. It's not like your old school type that has a great big box down here hitting you in the leg on your dash. The one I set up today, this one has a little switch, with a dial that goes right here on the dash. more

A Closer Look at the Extang E-Series Soft Tonneau Cover on a 2017 Ram 1500- Video
Hi, this is Scott with etrailer, and today we're gonna take a look at and install the Extang soft folding tonneau cover for 2017 Ram 1500. If you're looking for an affordable, fairly easy to install tonneau cover for your truck, this one is gonna be the way to go. This one's pretty cool, the way it installs, there's no tools involved when you put this one on at all. Back here in the back, you're gonna have spring loaded clamps where you just pull down on it and release it, and then we can flip our cover forward. Now once we have it forward on both sides, we're gonna have a buckle. Once we buckle it in, we can pull on our strap to tension it up and we could do that on both sides, and that's gonna hold it in place. more

The Ram 1500 is a super popular vehicle because it gives you the best of both worlds. Along with that though, you'll typically see a lot more sag. Air helper springs like this air lift kit are really gonna improve the ride of your truck, especially when you are towing or hauling heavy loads. If you've ever towed or hauled with the factory suspension, you'll notice that your rear end of your truck will sag down a little bit and that's really gonna affect the way the truck drives. What that does is it takes weight off of the front of the vehicle. That's where all your steering components are, and also that's where most of your braking is gonna come from. more

Hi, this is Scott with etrailer and today we're taking a look at and installing our CURT front hitch for our 2021 Ram 1500. The CURT front mount hitch is a pretty cool accessory actually. You can do a lot of different things with these. What I've seen people do with these is actually put a ball mount on the front and actually use it to help park their trailer into a tighter spot at a campground or whatever. It gives you a better view of what your camper's doing when you're actually pushing it in from the front, so that's really cool to do that. They also make really nice plow options for these like snow plows for your driveways or doing streets or whatever and parking lots. more

Installing the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver on a 2020 Ram 1500 Classic- Video
Hey, everyone, Ryan here at etrailer. Today, on our 2020 Ram 1500 Classic, we're gonna be showing you how to install the etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver, but before we do that, since there are quite a few hitches available for this truck, why don't we take a minute, we'll check this one out, and make sure it's gonna be right for you. This setup will be a real good option for those of you whose trucks didn't come equipped from the factory with the hitch, and this will make a great general purpose, all-around trailer hitch, right So if you're trying to do some towing, you know, medium duty, somewhat heavy duty stuff or use accessories or even a little bit of both, this one will definitely get the job done. Now, there's kind of two types of hitches, I guess you could say, or groups for the Ram, some that are like this that are more compact and small, and then other ones that run from side to side and connect to each one of the frame rails, and as far as the ones that are similar to the etrailer one, there's a CURT, a Draw-Tite, and one made by Blue Ox, and in all honesty, they're all extremely similar on how they're gonna look and work with the Ram and extremely similar on what they're gonna be able to handle and things like that. With that said, if you're looking to do maybe some more heavy duty towing or, you know, kind of push everything to the limit a little bit or just want a hitch that's overbuilt, some of the ones that run from frame rail to frame rail do have a little bit higher capacities. So it might be worth looking into those. more

Hands-On with the etrailer Cargo Area Protector - 2020 Ram 1500- Video
What's going on, everybody Adam here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at our etrailer cargo area protector on our 2020 Ram 1500. If you're like me and you put your truck through a lot, whether it's just throwing a bunch of tools with sharp edges and stuff in here that could potentially rip our seats. I also bring the kiddos down to the creek and stuff like that quite often, and they usually come out quite wet, so this is gonna protect that too. We do have a waterproof material, so you don't really have to worry about that water seeping through and down to our seats. Also with pet hair, these are cloth seats, I bring my dog everywhere with me, so I'd rather just take this off, hose it off, or wipe it off with a cloth rather than having to get that pet hair out of these seats. more

So when you get your new truck, one of the best ways to keep the carpet looking nice is to replace your OEM rug with something that's gonna give you better coverage. So let's take a closer look at our floor liner and see what it does for us. So as far as our WeatherTech FloorLiner, comparing it directly to our OEM rug, you can see that you're gonna have a lot more coverage in the middle section and just along the edges, just because you're gonna have everything contained. The way that the WeatherTech works, well, FloorLiner is gonna work, you're gonna have these channels and the ridges along the edge to help keep wet spills contained. How's it going neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Dee Zee NXT nerf bars for your 2025 Ram 1500. Now, when you think about adding nerf bars or steps to your vehicle, not only is it gonna give you a extra measure to get into your vehicle easier and give you traction when it's snowy or wet outside, but in my opinion I think it gives a nicer look to your truck altogether. So let's take a look at the step, and see what it does for us. We're six inches wide, so that's gonna give you plenty of places to get your foot on to get in and out of your vehicle. As far as the overall length is 86 inches, so it's gonna go basically the entire length of the cab area as far as your door, so you and your passengers can enter and exit pretty easily. The nerf bar itself is made of aluminum. more
