EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Installation - 2017 Kia Soul

How's it going Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today on our 2017 Kia Soul, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver. Now right off the back this hitch is going to be different from the others because it's going to have a two inch by two inch receiver tube opening, which is going to work with just about any accessory that you'd ever want which in turn is going to save you a lot of time because you're going to have so many different options as far as accessories go to choose from, as opposed to those inch and a quarter hitches. And also in my personal opinion, this one is going to feel more sturdy and well-built. The hitch is made from recycled materials, such as aluminum, steel and stainless steel. And it's also going to have a black powder coat finish, which will stay looking good for a long time and help prevent any rust and corrosion. more

Curt Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2013 Kia Soul

Ryan: Hey, everybody. My name's Ryan and here at etrailer we install, test fit, and review a lot of different parts. That way, we can try to answer any questions those of you might have, and that's exactly what we're doing here today on our 2013 Kia Soul. We're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring Harness. The wiring is going to provide us with the necessary lighting functions, not only to remain safe, but legal as well whenever we're pulling our trailer, because it's going to send those outputs out to the back of it, providing us with the stop, taillight, and turn signals. Not to mention too, some hitch-mounted accessories like cargo carriers and things of that nature actually have lights on them too that can illuminate, and the four-way connector will be able to power those up as well. This is a really well-built kit. It actually comes with a nice, thick rubber dust cap, and that's going to help keep the terminals in good condition. more

Carter: Hey guys. Carter here at etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Konig self-tensioning tire chains for our 2012 Kia Soul with tire size 205/55-16. The most notable feature of these tire chains is by far the self-tensioning mechanism. Now unlike other tire chains, you have to make continual adjustments, whereas after you get done installing, you need to pull forward, drive around the block and then make further adjustments. We're not going to have to do that with these Konig chains because this self-tensioning mechanism is going to take all the hassle out of that because it does this for us. more

Now hasn't mentioned, this is a plug and play install, and furthermore, it is a non-powered unit, which means we don't have to run that pesky power wire up to the vehicle's battery, which saves a lot on our install time. The Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness is going to provide us with our basics functions for the smaller size trailers. One of the main questions we get in regards to the bike racks is if they're going to allow you to have full access to your hatch. Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Installation - 2019 Kia Soul

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com. Today you're going to be taking a look at the Draw-Tite Class 1 Custom Fit Trailer Hitch Receiver on our 2019 Kia Soul. Now, here is what our hitch is going to look like. You can see that it's going to have a really clean appearance to it, almost a factory look, and that's because most of the cross tube is going to be hidden behind the bumper, and all we're really going to see is this receiver tube sticking out. Now, since it's a Class 1 hitch it is going to give us that inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter receiver tube opening, which is going to be great if we need to free up some space inside of our Soul, so we can put a cargo carrier on there, or if we need to transport some bikes we can put a bike rack in there and take our bikes to the trail. But, however we're going to use our hitch all of our accessories are going to mount to the hitch pin hole here on the side. It's going to accept a standard half inch pin and clip. Now, these are not included with the hitch, but you can pick them up here at etrailer.com along with some locking devices to make sure accessories are secure. But if you do plan on doing some light inaudible 00:00:58 towing you're obviously going to have, to have a spot to hook up your safety chains. Our connection point is going to be a loop style welded to the bottom of the receiver tube, and you can see we have plenty of room to get most size hooks on or off. However you're going to use your hitch you want to make sure it's up to the task, so the weight ratings, our hitch is going to have a 200 pound tongue weight, which is the maximum downward force of the receiver tube. more

RockyMounts Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Kia Soul

Hey, everyone, today we have a 2018 Kia Soul, and we're going to do a test fit of the RockyMounts WestSlope two-bike platform rack. Now, this platform rack's going to be mounted to the hitch of your Kia Soul. It's going to allow you to carry a few bikes to and from the trails. It has a nice tiered loading system, so the second bike, when loaded, is going to sit about four inches hire than your front bike, and that's going to help prevent a lot of handle bar contact. It's also going to help increase your ground clearance. At the back here we're going to have a ground clearance measurement of about 27 inches, which is more than enough space to prevent any bottoming out on any inclines you go up.Now, like a lot of platform racks, this does tilt away from the vehicle, and how we're going to do that is pull this blue T pin and let it tilt away, and this allows us to gain access to the trunk. You see when we open up the Soul, we've got plenty of space between the handle bars and the hatch. more

Now instead of having a frame grip putting downward force on top of our frame, or anything like that, we actually have another cradle that is on our downtube right here. It's got nice padding as you can see right there. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Kia Soul we're gonna be installing SMI's Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System, part number SM99251.The Stay-IN-Play Duo is gonna be an ideal braking system for someone that uses their RV frequently. If you're constantly going from place to place and you don't wanna have to worry about taking in one of those box systems back in, back out, back in, back out, and you don't wanna tamper with the components on your RV, this system's gonna be a permanent install that, once installed, you never have to worry about it again. It is a bit time-consuming, but it's well worth the effort. This braking system's gonna be proportional, so it's going to operate depending on the needs of the vehicle. So if you're moving fast, it'll apply harder. The inertia switch inside the controller will determine this. There's a sensitivity adjustment that will allow you to make the setting perfect for your driving style. It features an easy on/off switch, so all you have to do when you're ready to get in your vehicle, you just turn it off, you can drive the vehicle, hook it up to your RV, click it on, and that's all you gotta worry about. Now, in addition to our SMI braking system, we installed a brake light relay. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Kia Soul, we're going to be installing Roadmaster's Easy Four Base Plate Kit, part #RM-522115-4.This Roadmaster base plate is going to solve the problem on how to bring your Kia Soul with you behind your brand new RV. When comparing this to some of the other options out there, this is going to be the most convenient. There are tow-dollies, you could flat bed it into a trailer, but all those other options are going to require you to have something very large to pull behind your RV just to get your vehicle with you. This is nice, convenient, all inclusive, and all you need is a small tow bar that you can store in one of your storage compartments on your RV.It is a bit time consuming to get your base plate installed, but once you get that fascia off, it really goes pretty smoothly. Compared to other base plate options out there, this one has very minimal drilling and bolts on pretty quickly. Only requires some small modifications to your vehicle to allow it to poke through and it's almost unnoticeable, so it doesn't detract from the looks of the vehicle.Included in the base plate, are some quick disconnect pins. more

The main purpose is to take up the difference in height between our hitch on our motor home and our base plate on our vehicle. Here we have it in the drop position, and this is gonna provide us with four inches of drop, or we can flip it over and it'll provide us with four inches of rise. Now with it in the drop position this is gonna be perfect for our Kia, because the base plate does sit very low on the vehicle. Now our adapter is made out of steel, but the hollow shank is gonna make it nice and lightweight, easier to handle, and the black powder coat finish is gonna resist rust and corrosion. Now to give you a few measurements, from the center of our hitch pin to the angled brace right here, it's gonna be about six inches. This is what our seven and four way look like when it's installed, it's going to give you all the proper lighting for your trailer, it's also going to give the option if you have a trailer with only a four pole, that you can hook up just to the four pole. This is going to be for vehicles that are not equipped with a tow package. What we'll do is, you have a spring loaded lid here, it's going to help keep in the moisture and stuff, the elements out from your connections. It's going to have a little tab and it's going to lock your plug into place so it won't pull out while you're driving. We can use this with trailers that have brakes on them, however you would need a brake controller. more

Best 2016 Kia Soul Trailer Wiring Options

Today we're going to be taking a look at the best wiring options for your 2016 Kia Soul. Here we have the Tekonsha T-One vehicle wiring harness, and over here we have the CURT vehicle wiring harness. Now both of our kits are going to give us a four-pole flat to hook up to our trailer and give us all the required lights, such as our turn signals, stop lights, and clearance lights. Now both of them are going to stay on the outside of the vehicle until we're ready to use them. Let's take a closer look at some of the differences. Now one of the biggest differences, although it may be small, is the dust covers. Our CURT is going to have a removable and replaceable dust cover, whereas our Tekonsha is going to be built in. Now the way these are both going to be installed is we're going to have a t-connector that's going to go in between our taillights and our wiring from our vehicle. Now one benefit that CURT does have as far as installation goes is that the wires are going to be somewhat smaller at the connection points compared to the Tekonsha here, so it will be a little bit easier to get the wires in place behind our taillights. Now both our kits are going to have converter boxes so that we know that our trailer's going to get the right signal. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2017 Kia Soul - Curt- Video

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2017 Kia Soul - Curt

Today on our 2017 Kia Soul, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt Class One Custom Fit Trailer Hitch Receiver, Part number C11419. So here's what our hitch looks like fully installed on our vehicle. Now the cross tube is mainly going to be hidden up behind the bumper, and we're mainly just going to see the receiver tube sticking out. Now it is a class one hitch, so it's going to give us an 1.25" by 1.25" receiver tube, and has a nice reinforced collar, giving it added strength and a nice clean finished look. Now the safety chain loops are going to be a rolled steel stock style, welded to the bottom of the receiver tube. And as you can see, we're not going to have any trouble getting most size hooks on or off, or worry about interfering with anything. Now our hitch is going to use a standard half inch pin and clip, which is included, so you're not going to have to worry about picking one of those up. Our hitch is going to feature a 200 pound tongue weight and a 2,000 pound gross trailer weight rating. Now I do want to mention, you always want to double check with your vehicle's owners manual to make sure that your car can handle that amount of weight. Now the manufacturer does recommend that you use a stabilization strap on any non-trailer loads, such as a bike-rack or cargo carrier, and you can pick one of those up on our website using part number 18050. I'm going to give you a few measurements that will help you when deciding for new accessories for your hitch, such as a bike-rack or even a cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch-pin hole to the outer most edge of the bumper, is 6.5". Now from the ground to the inside top edge of the receiver tube opening is just under 11". Now to get our hitch installed, we're only going to need a few tools. We'll need a 17mm wrench, a ratchet, and a 17mm socket, and finally our torque wrench to torque all our bolts down. Now that we've gone over a little bit of the features and what we need to get it installed, let's show you how we got it done. The first step of our installation is we're going to come to the back of our vehicle and we're going to come underneath so we can see the frame and we're going to be checking the connection points. Now we're going to have a weld nut on the bottom of our frame here at the end, one on each side, and then on the side of our frame, we're going to have another weld nut directly next to the one on the bottom. more

It's going to provide us a 4-pole flat trailer connector, and it's going to give us all the required lights when we're going down the road pulling a trailer, such as your taillights, turn signals, and brake lights. Now that we've shown you what it looks like after it's fully installed, let's show you how to install it. To begin our installation we're going to need to come to the back of our vehicle, and open up the hatch so we can gain access to our taillights. Now on each side our taillight's going to have four fasteners holding it in place. more

Here's where our hitch looks like fully installed. It's gonna sit right below the bumper, and all you're really gonna see is the receiver tube on the hitch. Now, this is a Class one hitch, so it's gonna be an inch-and-a-quarter by an inch-and-a-quarter receiver tube, and as you can see, it has a nice reinforced collar, giving it a clean finish look. This hitch is gonna use a standard half inch pin and clip, which is included, which is nice because you're not gonna have to buy anything extra. On the safety chain loops here, it's like a rolled steel stock, and as you can see, there's plenty of room to get most sized hooks on or off. This hitch features a 200 pound gross tongue weight. Our end caps here have this plastic piece that can be knocked out and replaced with a Thule lock core system, so once you have this installed it can actually be secured to your roof. Also, if we take off the end cap by peeling this out here you can see it has a T-track, so this roof rack is capable to use T-track accessories.
